As the nightmarish memory faded to black, a strange serenity gripped Song. She slowly opened her eyes, her perception indistinct and fuzzy. She felt as if she were floating...
Wait, she was floating. She was underwater... deep underwater. It was dark, almost too dark to see... yet, she could sense the shifting currents of water around her, focus her eyes to make out shadowy figures in the distance—schools of fish, growths of kelp and algae, coral rock formations...
She took a sharp breath upon the realization, clarity coming to her. She reflexively gasped, stirring as bubbles escaped from her mouth. But as she inhaled, she felt... fine? Water hadn't flooded her lungs; she raised her hand to just above her waist, feeling strange, pulsating slits along the sides of her bodies.
Gills. She had gills. She didn't need to resurface at all. The water and darkness surrounding her was oddly comforting. She made out the length of her own body, rendered by strange, green glowing sigils—as memories flooded back to her, she recalled the same inscriptions on the same artifact that got her into this mess.
She was naked, floating alone in the darkness, though the chilling water around her didn't bother her at all. As clarity of thought returned to her, she wondered what to do now. The sigils etched across her body pulsated slowly, her body oddly relaxed.
As she sunk deeper into the abyss, memories trickled into her mind; she had the faintest inkling of recollection, as if she was reliving them herself. The exhilaration of boundless power, summoning floods and tidal waves at a whim, the best laid plans she had... and the mortals that had vexxed her.
Her body shuddered and rippled, a sensation of numb relaxation coursing through her. Her eyelids fluttered as her mind went blank, her questioning thoughts ebbing away. Instead, a familiar voice called to her.
Song Winters... my patience wears thin...
"H... how do you know my..." She wondered quietly, the last ebbs of clarity pushing back. But a force pushed back; her body tingled, a wave of relaxation coursing through her once more.
Our spirits are connected, intertwined. Your life is but a microcosm of the eons I have lived, building towards my return.
Song stared out into darkness, her body limp and relaxed, a dazed expression on her face as she confronted the demon possessing her in her mind. Numb to the terror of her unmoving body—the body that was no longer wholly her own—she drifted along silently.
You are the vessel by which I will realize my return to this plane of mortals. I will give you a parting gift... before I extinguish your flame of life.
An icy sensation gripped her scalp. Strands of her hair grew out, coiling together, and shifting, writhing. They were turning into tentacles, a mess of boneless tentacles that swayed gently in the ocean currents, the underside lined with suckers. They grew like weeds, their colours shifting to a pale blue, before slithering down her shoulders, and climbed over the curvature of her chest.
"Nn-" She moaned as her own tentacle hair toyed with her chests, twisting around her erect nipples; they hardened, sticking out like bottle caps. The suckers popped and sucked at her skin as the tentacles massaged her skin, leaving hickies along her glowing skin; unbeknownst to her, her skin was slowly turning into the same pale hue as her tentacles.
You may experience the earthly pleasures of mortals, before I ascend once more as the goddess of the seas.
She shifted, her body tingling as a thousand pin-pricks rooted up from her limbs, fish-like scales sliding into place along her arms, and the back of her hands. The tentacles continued to sprout from her head, in longer streams as they coiled down her torso, exploring her lower body. She lifted her legs as the tentacles prodded at her labia. They plunged inside of her, slick and hard; she let out a silent moan, bubbles escaping from her mouth as she writhed in pleasure.
She remained oblivious as her legs elongated, the limbs bonelessly coiling together, and stretching into the deep abyss, striking blue scales enveloping her lower body as her legs gave way to the form of a sea serpent's tail. Myriad tentacles tickled her form, sucking at her curves.
She opened her mouth and allowed one adventurous tentacle to plunge into her mouth. She kissed and sucked at it, moaning. Every tentacle tingled with sensitivity, pleasure consuming her thoughts; she could feel twin sensations of being touched and of touching herself, multiplied over and over. Her tail thrashed as she moaned, stifling screams of pleasure.
And with your sacrifice... we will enact our revenge on the Chan lineage for the injustices they have inflicted on us!
"The... the Chan lineage?" The pleasurable tentacles ceased their teasing of Song's body, twisting about as if they were confused. Her eyes fluttered open, the sexual heat ebbing away. "I don't have a problem with them. What of Atlantis?"
The name 'Chan' didn't register any particular sense of malice from Song, though some part of her mind reacted with immeasurable bitterness; the feelings of the water demon Bai Tza. There was silence in her mind for a spell.
Why... because they sealed us away! They must PAY for their insolence!
"But Atlantis..." Song mused, tilting her head. She recalled Bai Tza's memories just as she would her own; it was a real place, albeit in ruins. She wanted to see it for herself. "It's a scholarly curiosity, we should really see that-"
You DARE speak back to Bai Tza!? You insolent-- how DARE you... who's in charge here!?
"Well, uh, me." Song blinked her eyes, now a stark, glowing red, with no irises. "You're stuck in my body..."
Song flexed her tail, swishing it in front of her to examine the green fins at the end. She waved it in an easygoing manner. Controlling her new mermaid-like body came to her naturally... as if she had eons of experience doing just that.
"I say let's check out Atlantis. I want to see what we can find. Maybe we'll find some neat artifacts~" She cooed with a smirk. "Who cares about some a buncha weirdo Americans." Song scoffed, brushing aside the hair tentacles along her body. As clarity returned to her, she asserted herself with a casual swagger.
You- you can't DO THAT! You have to OBEY ME! Surrender yourself!
"Hey lady, you can dial it back a bit!" Song admonished the angry demon in her thoughts. "I'm supposed to be the vessel for you, right?" Song scoffed. "You're basically riding shotgun inside of me, so get with the program, sit down, and shut up!"
...Song flinched. Had she always been so... assertive? Maybe this water demon was rubbing off on her in more ways than one. She looked over her own impressive, serpentine form; the size of it was lost to her, the ocean abyss offering no sense of scale, but she felt powerful.
She paused for a venomous rebuke from the water demon occupying her thoughts, but that angry voice inside of her head had been silenced for the time being... curious. With a knowing grin, she flexed her tail and plunged deeper into the depths, her stark red eyes piercing the darkness as she swam.
It was time to (re)discover the lost kingdom of Atlantis. Her academic curiosities were greatly piqued.
