Part 5

Megales had retreated from her abode in a hurry, her heels clicking against the sidewalks as she huffed and jogged. She glanced behind her, slowing her gait as she glanced behind her. She squinted.

...No sign of Leila or Iris. She must've lost them.

"Gosh, I'm so big now... it's a pain to get around like this sometimes." Megales glanced down to her chest, still wobbling like gelatin from her exertion.

A blank look of realization crossed her face. "Why didn't I just fly? I'm part succubus." She groaned, tilting her head skywards.

Oh well... It wasn't like exercise was a bad thing. And she did end up on Bank Street; it's where all the luxury-brand fashion outlets set up shop. It would be good for inspiration, for muse. She leisurely followed along the sidewalk, eager to get a little window shopping done.

"Ooh, I like this shawl!" Megalas stopped by a window, eying a pretty pink shawl on display, draped over a mannequin. Almost reflexively, her torso shimmered and unfurled; magenta-and-purple tendrils sprouted from her neck, flattened out, and travelled down her sides, lightening in hue until she had sprouted a replica of the shawl from her own biomass...

She examined the shawl she had just produced; it was soft, light, airy, and practical too. She smiled to herself, admiring the handiwork. Of course, such precision and attention-to-detail could only come from the mind of a seasoned seamstress...

"Very nice~" She cooed, moving on. She "tried on" different outfits as she went, excitedly muttering to herself all the while. It was a nice way to spend the time...

...At least until the line of shops began to peter out, and Megales was left to dwell on her thoughts again. She found herself thinking back to the lovers she had left behind, and the strange situation they were all in together.

She paused, staring off into empty space, a pensive look on her face; her thick eyebrows furrowed in thought, her hands absent-mindedly fidgeting along the cuff of her experimental outfit.

"Celes? Is that you?"

Megales blinked, raising her head as she was—well, part of her was addressed by name. She spun around to face the person addressing her...

"Ah! Mrs. Kawaguchi!"

Megales' eyes lit up, her voice swelling with excitement. She recognized Shiori Kawaguchi, a kitsune sorceress, and also Celes's caretaker when she was younger, and a fresh face to Crossroads. She even let her stay for a while until Celes found her own two feet... she owed a lot to her.

Shiori was something of a mother-figure to Celes, though at a glance it might be hard to tell: despite her confident swagger, her jubilant expression, and the lusciousness of the fur in her six orange fox tails, Shiori was over six hundred years old. Strangely, she hardly looked a day over thirty-two... and her appearance seemed outright petite compared to the bombshell that Megales had become.

Shiori studied Megales' face, pausing and rubbing her chin; her nose wiggled. She rubbed her chin, studying Megales from top to bottom.

"My my, you've certainly, ah, grown since we last met. It must've been the Solstice pageant when we- URK!"

"Ohhh, Mrs. Kawaguchi, it's so good to see you again!" Megales wasted no time wrapping her arms around Shiori in an enormous hug, squeezing her tight and raising her above the ground.

"MRGH! Tight...!" Shiori winced in pain, her tails flailing. "C-Celes, you have to put me down...!"

"Oh, oh, sorry, I-" Megales plopped Shiori back on her feet, daintily brushing off her shoulder. She clasped her hands together, standing at attention. "S-sorry, I don't know my own strength sometimes..."

"Q-quite alright, it's been a long time... I understand the enthusiasm, hoho." Shiori chuckled. "I suppose I would find you around the fashion shops, Celes. You were always enamoured with stylish garments. Though, looking at you now, I suppose it's obvious even at a glance."

"Ahaha, yes, I... mm. A-actually, it's Megales now." She raised a pointed finger.

"Mm? Is that so...?" Shiori squinted. "...hm, I thought something was off; I picked up the life force of another in there."

Shiori nodded sagely, pacing around Megales' form with a studious look in her eyes. She stopped in front of Megales with a wide grin, clasping her hands together.

"A soul union, is it? I'm glad you found a nice young lady to spend the rest of your life with together!" Shiori nodded. "Oh, if Yun were here right now, she'd be utterly delighted, enamoured, ecstatic... I'll have to tell her the good news when I get back~"

"Eh? N-no, we're not-" Megales waved her hands together. "I-I mean, we did find nice young ladies to date, t-two of them even, um..." Megales prodded her fingers together.

"...eh? So you two aren't..." Shiori blinked.

"N-not in the romantic sense, it just sort of... happened." Megales chuckled anxiously.

She went on to explain the day's events and how they came to be a single entity; two beings fusing together. Shiori's golden eyes shimmered with curiosity, but she said nothing until the very end. The kitsune tilted her head.

"Hmm... and the other two didn't take to it?" Shiori tapped her chin.

"N-not exactly..." Megales shook her head. "I-it's kind of a big change, but they don't get along super well with each other, so it's going to be a whole new living arrangement, and pheromones, well, I wouldn't want to rely on those, but-"

"I beg your pardon, 'pheromones'?" Shiori blinked.

"O-oh! Oh. I didn't mention, um... they're part of my new job." Megales stuttered with a sheepish expression.

"Oh. But you seemed so set on fashion design..." Shiori glanced back to the luxury outlets down the strip. "I suppose something changed."

"No, no, not like that! I-I opened a boutique even, but, um, now I'm juggling... a-a new one in, um, ah..."

A look of realization crossed Megales' face. She had been dancing around the s-word for some time, but talking about it aloud to Shiori, her prior caretaker, brought some truths to the fore. She began to quiver.

"...sssssex work."

Babum.

As Megales uttered those cautious words, she winced in pain, clutching her head. She felt like it was splitting in two; her thoughts were jumbled, frantic, like there was a caged monkey in her head, clawing and screaming to get out.

And it was only growing louder. Her knees buckled as she slumped to the ground, grunting in pain.

"Ah, Cel- M-Megales?" Shiori kneeled to her aid. "A-are you quite alright? You look stressed."

Megales wanted to at least assure Shiori that she could pull herself together, but the cacophonous drumming in her head was drowning out the rest of the world. It sounded like two voices arguing, trying to shout each other down. She couldn't focus, couldn't maintain her form; her fashionable outerwear congealed to magenta-and-purple ooze, sliding down her form as it rippled erratically. Megales muttered rapidly to herself, her eyes rolling into the back of her head.

"No, no, nononononono, I can't I don't I won't but I gotta but I won't but I must I-I CAN'T DO IT!"

She lashed her arms out in both directions, her entire body shimmering and glossy in the sunlight; they wrapped around two streetlights, knotting and stretching as they pulled, her body getting pulled in two different directions. Her body resisted, creaking as rubber under the sheer exertion; she was wincing in pain, pulled in two directions as her body flattened out like a sheet.

The street lights arched unsteadily in her powerful grip at an uncertain angle. The metal shaft began to bend in an unnatural way, the ground beneath it cracking. Her anguished grunting was drowned out by the noise of the breaking light fixtures.

"Megales! Look!"

Shiori lept to the fore, twirling her pointing finger in practiced, minute circles; at the tip of her fingers, energy flowed, wispy and luminescent, swirling a myriad of soft colours. The orb of light drifted up playfully in the air, floating with purpose in front of the fused slime's face.

"Aghn... ah?" Megales squinted, her head cocked to the side as her eyes fixated on the curious orb; they followed its movements, focused on its shimmering colours. It pulsed emphatically, her vision overwhelmed.

"...nn..." As the orb floated in front of her, following the bobbing of her head, Megales groaned, her eyelids slipping. She had been entranced by the shimmering colours, and felt a powerful fatigue washing over her. Her taut arms loosed, knots undoing, slumping to they round with a wet plop and retracting to her form as she crumbled to the ground.

She melted into a puddle as she sprawled, liquidizing into an indistinct puddle as the ooze recollected around her prone body. It rippled, gyrated, and reformed, melding together into her form, seemingly wholly human looking... she looked like she was sleeping peacefully.

Shiori leaned next to Megales' sleeping form, brushing back some of her hair to look at her face. Megales snored quietly against the cobblestone walkways.

"My, my..." Shiori tutted. "Whatever did you get yourself into?"

Part 6

The world went black for the fused succubus, shimmering, hypnotic colours ebbing away into a sleepy darkness. Time passed without their accord, oblivious to the world around her.

It would be some time until she stirred awake. Their perception of the world ebbed back from a bleary lack of focus. Soft covers pressed against their form, blanketing over them.

"Ugh..."

Two voices groaned in unison, eyelids fluttering awake. They were in a posh-looking room that was, for some reason, both familiar and unfamiliar—two memories had differing appraisals on the matter.

"Where am I..." Megan muttered to herself, rubbing her head.

"I think we're at Mrs. Kawaguchi's..." Celes responded, her voice sounding equally as tired.

"Mm..." Megan responded noncommittally. The two girls shifted underneath the covers, ready to go back to sleep.

...And then the realization struck both of them. They shot up in unison, glancing to one another with astounded, terrified expressions.

"Celes!?" Megan blurted out. "Y-you can't be sleeping with me! We're, we're dating other people!!"

"That's what I was going to tell you!!" Celes shouted indignantly. "You're the one dragging me around! What did you do to me!?"

"ME!? You're the one who barged into my bedroom! The door was closed and you, you just oozed in anyway! I-I need some privacy and-"

"No no no, don't go putting this all on me!" Celes pressed a finger against Megan's head. "You, you bewitched me with those foul pheromones! The one Kamika's always on about!"

"Ph-ph-pheromones...!" Megan stammered, her face going pale. "G-gah, that, that's my fault, I-I don't know how to control them, I just..."

"GACK! A-and I'm naked!?" Celes covered the sheets up to her chest. "We're naked! And we SLEPT TOGETHER!!"

Celes was already scootching towards her side of the bed, aiming to put distance between herself and Megan. But Megan felt a strange tension at her side.

"Oomph!" Megan grunted as Celes pulled her along.

"Mrs. Kawaguchi keeps spare changes of clothing in the wardrobe, w-we can get dressed, go our separate ways! Nothing happened between us!" Celes grunted, struggling as she pulled something along. "I love Leila, I can't do anything to jeopardize-"

"C-Celes! Y-you're hurting me!" Megan grunted, her hand clenching the mattress cover as Celes tried to get out. "P-please, let go!"

"You're holding on to me!" Celes turned her head. "You let go!"

"I-I'm not holding onto anything, see!?" Megan raised her right hand.

"Yeah!? Where's your left hand, huh? I don't see it!" Celes waved her left hand as if to demonstrate.

Megan stared. There was something strange about what Celes had said. Megan traced the sensations, the indent her body made under the covers. She tried to wiggle the fingers on her left hand.

She couldn't. She couldn't even feel it.

Her eyes lowered towards the blanket, her eyes bulging. She expected—she hoped to find something typical. There were two girls in this bed... but there was only one bulge.

Megan raised her hand to brush her silvery hair, her eyes raising to Celes; her purple features, her freckles, her long purple hair. Megan had a thought, but... she didn't want to be right.

"Celes... can you pull down the covers?" Megan grimaced.

Celes was about to get heated all over again, but the look of dread in Megan's eyes gave her pause. Her mouth flattened. "Megan, that's... we're naked."

"I-I know." Megan nodded. "Something is... wrong about this. About us..."

Megan and Celes turned towards the covers. With a final anxious glance shared between the two, each girl lowered a hand and, together, pushed the covers down.

"!!!" The girls gasped sharply in unison.

They uncovered their chest. Emphasis on their.

They were still attached to one another, but there were no inky swirls of mixed together. It looked like a Frankenstein monster stitched together, two conjoined halves of purple and pink, split down the middle by a single seam. Celes comprised of the left side, and Megan the right; they experimentally curled the toes on each of their legs, each girl with one arm and one leg... together comprising a whole slime person.

Only their heads were distinct. Their hands caressed their shared buxom, one perky purple breast neighbouring a twin pink breast.

"What... what is... I-I thought it was over..." Celes muttered. "Are we stuck like this?"

"M... maybe." Megan stared. "Together forever..."

A hushed moment of silence hovered between the girls. Celes' arm flopped to the side, staring forward. She was despondent. Megan studied the room, her eyes landing on a rotary phone on a wardrobe at the end of the room. Her eyes narrowed.

"Ah! The phone! S-Tan!" Megan's eyes lit up.

"...S-Tan..." Celes turned to Megan. "That weird succubus we saw on the way out of your apartment, right?"

"Yeah, her! She's like, super powerful! She'll know what to do, I have her business card, it's..."

Megan's hand brushed against the bedside table: she carried it everywhere with her when she was working the succubus rounds, just in case of an emergency.

"Ah, here it is!" Megan flourished the card. "We gotta dial her, right now!"

Megan tried to scooch off the bed, but she inadvertently pulled Celes along with her. Celes flailed, her eyes wide and panicked.

"H-hey, wait, tell me before- UWAH!"

As Megan tried to stand up, Celes staggered, and the two of them together, in their shared conjoined body, slumped against the wall, their heads pressed together.

"A-ah... sorry, Celes." Megan apologized, her voice slightly muffled.

"It's okay... we have to share this body..." Celes tilted her head back, their cheeks peeling apart. "Just one step at a time..."

Celes placed her foot on the ground, glancing at Megan as she placed her weight on it. Megan nodded, pressing her hand against the wall, using it to catch herself as she raised her body in unison with Celes.

Both girls had access to precisely half of their shared body... coordinating would be a struggle.

"I-I could probably reach for the phone from here... stretchy arms." Celes suggested.

"No," Megan shook her head. "I-if we're gonna be like this for a while, we should... we should learn to work together."

"Ah.... r-right." Celes nodded. "One foot in front of the other."

Celes took one step forward. Megan took another. They took careful, cautious, alternating steps on stiff, unbending legs. As they passed a wardrobe, Celes reached for a drawer to rummage for a towel to cover up.

"Can you dial the number for me?" Megan lifted the headpiece. "It's 666-6666."

"...Do you really need a business card to remember that?" Celes blinked. "I'll punch it in..."

Kaclick. Kaclick. Brrrrrr...

Megan held her breath as she listened to the dialtone, swallowing silently to herself. Celes' eyes drifted to her, studying her carefully. Megan's grip on the handpiece tensed up.

"MEGALEEEEEEEES!~"

S-Tan's voice was loud. And shrill. And right behind them.

They screamed, each of them trying to spin around...

Bonk. They bumped their heads, wincing in surprise and rubbing their forehead.

"Your horns are way overkill, Megan..." Celes muttered.

"I-it's not a fashion choice..." Megan groaned.

"Aw, c'mon guys, I don't wanna hear bickering from my most favourite succubus! Y'know teamwork makes the dream work!~"

S-Tan patted their cheeks with great enthusiasm... and with overwhelming force, almost like she was trying to press their heads back together.

"S-Ta-a-an!" Megan warbled as her cheek was furiously prodded. "W-we had a talk, a-and we don't wanna be stuck together anymore..."

"Aw, c'mon, it's barely been a day, Megales!" S-Tan beamed. "Hardly put a dent in that forever ever after dealie!~"

"Stop calling us that." Celes' eyebrows furrowed. "My name is Celes."

"Aw... such a spoilsport." S-Tan cocked her head to the side. "You know how hard it is to reverse this kinda get-together?"

"But... y-you're the most powerful demon I know." Megan pleaded. "I-I'll do my shift alone, b-but can you help us?"

"Hm.... hmmmmmm... HMMMMMMMMMM..." S-Tan hummed to herself, her tail swishing back and forth.

"...I might have... one idea!~" S-Tan winked. "But first we need to get out of this stuffy little room..."

"WHAT'S ALL THE COMMOTION IN THERE!?" A surly voice from the other side hollered. "DON'T MAKE ME GET OUT OF MY CHAIR FOR YOU TWO!! JUST STAY PUT!!"

"Ah! Th-that's Zac!" Celes' head tilted up. "He's Shiori's assistant!"

"Um, but we want to leave!" Megan called back. "We have somewhere we need to be and-"

"JUST PARK YOUR TUSHES, I'M GETTIN' THE MISSUS!! DON'T MOVE AN INCH!"

The three remained silent as the scurrying grew ever fainter on the other side of the door.

"O-oh gosh, was he... waiting outside our door?" Megan grimaced.

"I-I don't know," Celes shook her head. "Mrs. Kawaguchi's estate is usually open to everyone... she wouldn't keep us cooped in here for no reason-"

"Yada yada, we don't need his permission! C'mon, c'mon, huddle closer!~"

S-Tan hugged the two girls closer, winking to the two of them.

"Now don't hold your breath! Otherwise your lungs will pop during the teleportation!~" S-Tan nodded enthusiastically.

"We don't have lungs!" Megan and Celes uttered in unison.

"Ohhhh riiiiight." S-Tan blinked. "Well then you have nothing to worry about! Let's go fix this little disagreement, mmkay???"

Poof. In a pink cloud of smoke, the three of them vanished into thin air.

...Just in time for the door to the room to unlock and swing open; Shiori Kawaguchi rushed in ahead of a small, gangly green goblin, dressed for business casual.

"...eh? Where'd they go?" Zac paced forward, peeking under the bed. "They were right here, I was yellin' at the both'a them!"

"Honestly, Zaxraz, I gave you one job..." Shiori sighed, her shoulders slumping. "If only they stayed put..."

"I was here the whole time!" Zac sputtered. "And the door was locked!"

"No good against a pair of slime girls, I'm afraid." Shiori grimaced. "I suppose we'll have to go find them again..."
