CHAPTER 15

Nikki hated the sewers. She hated the sewers so goddamn much. They were dark. They were dank. They were cramped. They were vile. They smelled like death. And everything was lifeless concrete. Sure, she made a successful getaway from Brad and... that guitar-playing stranger, but that left her with this empty, dreadful feeling that she was running out of options.

Groaning, she navigated the sewers by generating a small light, one no bigger than the flash lens of a smartphone. She grimaced, wading through ankle deep water. The sewers were a dreadful place. Madness was creeping at the back of her mind. She didn't want to stay here. The only thing on her mind was getting home. She could regroup there. Think of a more longterm plan.

She hated this, and opted to space out for a while. Let all the machines she assimilated do the thinking for a bit. She downloaded blueprints to the Bismarck municipal sewer systems, charting a course, and lurched along. The increasingly narrowing pipes proved no obstacle to Nikki; she simply dismissed her shape and oozed through the plumbing.

The wet sucking sounds of her biomass navigating the pipes shook her out of her trance, and she groaned quietly. She was stretched so thin, her breath was stifled, her body gingerly tasted the metallic piping. She summoned all her willpower not to eat her way out of the piping, to keep going, to ignore how many dozens of feet she could feel herself reaching.

It smelled awful. But she had to press forward. Towards the end, she could feel her body spread out, and she gasped in relief...

It was dark. There was some element of familiarity—an air freshener with a light was plugged into a far wall, providing enough light for Nikki to get her bearings. Her formless body lurched upwards, hugging the sides of a bathtub.

Just as planned; she flowed up from the drain connecting her bathtub to the broader sewers. She was back in her apartment, without drawing any attention to herself.

"Angh..." Nikki groaned, feeling the last of her body slip up from the drain. Her body was enormous, easily capable of filling the bathtub up to the lip with shimmering biomatter. Her torso reformed, arms quickly sprouting, clutching her head. Several anxious tendrils rose up from the tub, clambering across the tiled walls of the bathroom.

She trembled, the night's events replaying in her head. She had been seen out in public. She thought she had more time to think of a plan, to pass for normal, but her entire condition was getting increasingly difficult to keep under wraps. Even her loved ones were finding out what she really was.

She felt exposed. Vulnerable. Insecure, even in her own home. Her entire body gurgled and lurched in response, her emotions entering a fever pitch. Each tentacle that sprouted from the tub lengthened, writhing, searching for something to fill the void inside of her.

"Grgh... so... so hungry..." This was how Nikki interpreted the burning feeling inside of her, but that wasn't quite accurate. It was anxiety focused to a razor edge, her entire body shouting at her to find something to put inside of her. It was all she could think about.

She oozed out of the tub, splatting against the tiles with a wet smack, before rushing for the door. She swung the door open, a tendril swing out to swipe the light switch. A pile of sludge rolling over itself, she formlessly lurched towards her entertainment center, where she left her container of bulk-order nuts and bolts. She needed a big meal just to clear her head.

Nikki didn't even bother with the inefficiency of the human mouth when she approached the crate. Two thick tendrils lashed out, wrapping themselves around the box, heaving it in a swing and dumping its shimmering contents all over herself. Her head materialized near the base of the slime, her torso shooting up as she swung her neck back; the twintails attached to their head billowed and flowed to the crate, flexing incredible strength as her arms flexed, rubbing over herself. She had gotten so efficient at reforming herself.

"Ahn..." She moaned, rubbing her body, coaxing nuts and bolts to sink into her sink as she pressed her hands on her erect breasts, down her sides, rubbing her inner thighs. The burning anxiety filling her ebbed away like the tide, pleasure and self-gratification filling the void.

The crate clattered to the floor as her hair tendrils—each one wider and thicker than her pear-shaped waist—arced and flipped against the floor into small, coiled piles. Her spine curved bonelessly as she presented her crotch to the ceiling, gasping for air and crying out in pleasure.

Her hands shot to her breasts to massage them, to coax them to grow; she needed an outlet for this intense sexual heat she was feeling all throughout her. From her lengthened torso, bumps under her breasts appeared, and swelled emphatically to D's, one after another. They traveled up her torso to occupy the space her lengthened torso provided. A second, and then a third pair of breasts were quickly accompanied by matching pairs of arms that sprouted from her sides.

They quite literally travelled up the length of her torso, melting back into her chest just under her chin; a constant cycle of breasts she could massage and knead, growing against her body, compressing against her body, travelling up her body like a factory line.

"O-oh god, oh fuck, it's... haaaah!~"

In that moment, Nikki abandoned all pretext of humanity, pleasure burning white in her mind as her body rocked, gyrated, and continued to elongate on its own from a pool of ooze that seemed keen on spreading across the floor, approaching the corners where flooring and walling met. She didn't care about being bound by the inflexible human form. She was growing bigger, and she loved it

BANG BANG BANG!

"NIKKI!? IS THAT YOU!?"

Nikki froze solid in place, her eyes wide as dinner plates. Her head had risen a good five feet from her body, connected by a narrow tube that could nominally be called her neck. Three pairs of arms pressed against her three pairs of breasts. Her lower body looked all the image of a python, her body pushing against furniture to make room.

"BRAD!?" She cried out, not sure what to think. What was he doing here!? She had to hide; the realization that he heard her masturbating to her mutation set off every single alarm in her head.

"J-just stay there, I got the spare key!" Brad called out. The door shook and the lock rattled as Brad fussed with it.

"NO, DON'T-" Nikki reached out with her three right arms, holding her palms out as if to stop him...

But Brad himself was frantic to get in, almost throwing the door off its hinges as he gripped the handle and swung the door open. He prepared to charge in to find her, but stumbled in his tracks as he saw the state of the room. And of the woman in the middle of it all.

"N... Nikki?" Brad froze in place, his hands tensed. He recognized Nikki's face, chiseled from the mercurial slime, the little dimples in her cheeks, her heart-shaped head... but she was huge. There were tendrils flexed in every direction. She had to be about fifteen feet long. She had way more breasts than he ever imagined, and her hands raised to preserve her triple-fold modesty left little to the imagination as her breasts rubbed anxiously against each other.

Nikki stared back, her expression absolutely aghast. A painful silence hovered between the two of them, broken only by the door behind Brad pitifully clicking shut on its own. Brad couldn't tear his eyes from this astounding form Nikki assumed; her mouth opened and closed repeatedly, trying desperately to form words.

"B-Brad, it's... I-I can explain, I..." She desperately tried to push down her breasts as if to press them back into her tingling, gyrating body, but this only excited her even more; the sensation from so many erroneous zones hit her hard, equal measures shame and lust washing over her. She moaned, her extended torso rising up towards the ceiling...

...Before it shuddered, and she tumbled forward, her head landing at Brad's feet. Her arms bonelessly sprawled forward, her body pressing and rubbing against the floor. She could feel herself against the walls, against the furniture. The lusty heat had ebbed away for a moment, providing clarity of thought to Nikki, though a fog of fatigued malaise filled her head. She groaned.

"...Wh... what the hell happened to you?" Brad swallowed, speaking slowly and quietly. His hands were raised, his eyes locked on how the puddle of mercury seemed to creep slowly towards him.

"Th... there was a meteor... f-found it while jogging, brought it home... thought I'd make a fortuNNNE!"

She hissed, her alien body writing in all directions as anxiety gripped her body. She was so hot, an uneasy feeling coursing through her. Her mind felt like there were a billion chittering voices clambering for her attention all at once. She had this awful, awful feeling—not unlike forgetting to turn off the oven before leaving the house, but with an intensity and scale far surpassing it. Like that fire would grow to an inferno consuming not only her own block, but the neighbouring blocks as well.

She had been discovered. She had been exposed. They knew she was here. It was taking every bit of Nikki's composure not to freak out then and there. Even then, Brad stood there, paralyzed with equal measures shock, terror... and concern.

"A-a meteor?" Brad sputtered, his jaw moving on its own, trying to produce words that would not come out. "You, you're an alien Nikki!?"

"I'm not an alien, Brad!" Nikki exclaimed sharply. "I-I'm still me, b-but I think something got... into me, and now everything happened so fast and I'm... not human anymore..."

Nikki whispered those last damning words with dread, terror flashing across her illuminated eyes. She rose up atop a pillar of her own lengthened  torso, rearing up like a snake. She had grown so big, she simply loomed over Brad.

Seeing him now welled up a sensation within her, a familiar sensation of belonging, of familiarity, of companionship... of love. And perhaps something of her lost humanity.

"...Hooooly crap, Nikki." Brad's eyes followed along Nikki's exposed body, finding no end to her sprawling body, her creeping tendrils... her exaggerated chest. He swallowed. "Th-this all happened so fast, I can't..."

"Brad, wait, I..." Nikki steeled herself, clenching her fist. "...I'm no longer human, but... but Brad! It's still me! It's Nikki! Look at me!"

"I-I am looking!" Brad blustered, his face turning red. "Oh my god I keep looking and there's just, it keeps on going and going and-"

"LOOK AT ME!"

Nikki lashed her arms out; they extended like ropes to wrap around Brad's shoulders, tugging him closer as she pulled him closer. She lowered herself to look him in the eyes, face to face. Her eyes shimmered with equal measures of hope and despair.

"Look into my eyes, Brad, i-it's still me in here, right?" She tried to put on a weak smile. "It's me. Nikki. We met in an online group for marathon daily exercises. You took me out for frozen yogurt at that corner shop on... on Clancy and Deagle. Remember?"

"...No. No, I didn't forget." Brad blinked, one of his arms feeling for Nikki's arms. They were smooth... but unmistakably warm.

"I'm not human anymore, but I... I haven't lost my humanity, Brad." Nikki trembled slightly, her arms tensing up around Brad. "I-I've been trying so hard to keep my life the same as it ever was, but there's so much of, of this stuff, a-and it keeps growing, a-and I'm always hungry, a-and the anxiety's just getting worse, and... Brad..."

Her voice cracked. Her neck elongated so that she could press her forehead against Brad's. It was a tender motion. She could feel the heat radiation from Brad's cheeks.

"Please... don't run away. I-I need you now, more than ever, you... you're my emotional anchor, Brad." She smiled weakly; she felt like crying, but her body could only produce streams of mercury resembling trails down her cheeks.

"You're my anchor, Brad, I... I don't want to lose my humanity in this, this insanity, I-."

"...Nikki..."

Brad whispered. He looked into her eyes. They were so familiar, so radiant—and not only due to the iridescent cyan glow that filled them. Even in this strange, alien element, Nikki's emotional pain shone through clear on her face. Brad grimaced.

"Nikki, girl, don't cry..." Brad raised a hand to wipe away her "tears"; the gesture only rubbed the trails of mercury back into her skin. His eyes were getting red. "Y-y'know I get emotional when girls cry..."

"I love you Brad, I love you so, so much, I want this to work, b-but if this is too much, I... I understand, but please-"

Nikki's emotional word-vomit was interrupted by a pulling sensation; Brad's arms slipped out from between the loops of her arms, pulling her in by the shoulders for a hug. Nikki's breath went still, her anxiety melting away in an instant. The flurry of mental anguish dissipating as Brad embraced Nikki.

The swelling sense of anxiety disappeared. Nikki's creeping, alien body paused, slipping from the walls to the floor, no longer looking for a way to fill the void in her heart. Brad had been by her side all along. It seems nothing had changed between them.

Brad raised a hand to stroke Nikki's head, his hands sinking into her biomass as if to brush her hair.

"I'm not going anywhere, Nikki, I... I know this is hurting you. It... it's a lot to deal with. ...Is that an understatement?"

"...It's a bit of an understatement." Nikki sighed. Brad always had some goofy thing to say that would diffuse the tension, even if he earnestly meant it.

"Listen, I..." Brad leaned his head back to look Nikki in the eye. "I'm in your corner. I'm not gonna let you go this alone. But if I'm gonna help you, I need to know everything. Can you start from the top?"

Nikki stared into his eyes. Despite her power, her flexibility, her malleability, she had an emotional vulnerability that Brad tapped into effortlessly. She lowered her arms, and nodded.

"From the top... right... t-take a seat on the sofa, it... it's gonna take a while to go over everything."

"...Busy few days?" Brad blinked?

"Yeah... yeah, something like that." She smiled weakly.

Nikki explained everything that had come to pass. How it started with the nasty well water that she couldn't get enough of. How dread crept up on her at the gym. The night where her transformation really took hold of her, and how she went crazy cleaning out her kitchen. The eerie dreams she's been having. And all the ways she'd been trying to remain discreet in the public eye.

"...Then that date at the pizza place was...?" Brad questioned aloud with a tilt of his head.

"Y-yeah. The backpack is how I carry it everywhere, but I... I'm nearing the end of my rope here." Nikki grimaced. "I'm gonna hit a tipping point, and if people weren't asking questions then, they... they're going to start soon."

Nikki rubbed her shoulder; the various tendrils sprouting from her form writhed anxiously. She took a breath, trying to normalize her exaggerated figure. She took a step forward with a foot quickly forming from the ooze, and then another. Her skin shimmered iridescently, before restoring her familiar skin pigments; her ooze puffed out and flourished into a set of gym clothes. At a glance, she looked like her old self...

...if not for the length her twintails stretched, transitioning from her familiar brown hair to the alien silver hue, dipping into a pile of ooze that took up her entire living room. It pulsed anxiously with life. Nikki could feel every movement; as much as she wanted to push it back into the back of her mind, she couldn't divorce herself from the ooze. She was an extension of it. Together they comprised a united whole.

"...I-I can't get rid of it." She clutched her chest. "It's just... connected to me. Forever. A-and it gets bigger every day."

"..." Brad was at a loss. As much as he tried to find the right words to help Nikki feel better about her situation, he didn't want to give her false hope. Nikki began to tremble on her own.

"W-what's gonna happen if it... if I get too big? I-I can't stop eating because there's this, this feeling that I want to, a-and I'm trying to control it, a-and soon I'm gonna be too big to, to cuddle and-"

Nikki squeaked, her worried train of thought grinding to a halt as Brad moved forward to embrace her. Nikki forgot herself in the moment; her skin sparkled, her clothes melting back into her skin as it shimmered that silvery sheen. Brad's grip was so strong, yet so tender; Nikki's breath caught in her throat.

"...Brad...?" She cooed.

"I'll stay the night with you. Okay? And then we can figure something out in the morning..." Brad rubbed her back. "You... you shouldn't make any sweeping decisions right now. Okay? You're dealing with so much, and..."

"...I know..." Nikki muttered. "I was... so scared of what you were gonna think, that you would... hate me."

"This just... happened to you. I don't blame you. I couldn't." Brad smiled. "But you can't bottle it in like this. So let's just... spend the night together. No funny stuff. You need rest."

"...Mmhm..." Nikki nodded. "No funny stuff..."

Nikki felt her entire body press into Brad's form. She felt like putty in his hands, like she could just melt down at any moment. She draped his hands over his shoulder.

"...I'm still your little cuddle bun, right?" Nikki asked, tilting her head up. "I'm not... too big?"

Brad paused. His eyes looked down to Nikki's lithe body, chiseled from the ooze, and then followed her length of twintails over to where the puddle occupied the room. It must've been at least as big as she was...

"...Well. Maybe." Brad blinked. "...I guess we got time to get through everything."

"...Eheh~" Nikki chuckled, pressing deeper into Brad's chest. "Thanks."

Nikki valued Brad's reassurances like nothing else. In that moment, she could forget about all the alien changes that overcame her, the feelings she was grappling with, the anxiety that bubbled underneath the surface.

She felt like herself again. Brad had that effect on her. It raised her spirits; part of her wanted to cuddle with Brad, wash over him. But she was already terribly tired. It was time for bed...
