Bill is done so wrong by this finale. The Master/Missy stuff is great, the stakes feel so high in the whole thing. And then there's the bit about how a Black woman can't get angry or loud because it's too scary and dangerous... It is a complicated moral mess -- and I guess that is part of what makes it so interesting and compelling. And Capaldi is freaking amazing. And Bill is done so, so wrong, so violated, so disrespected... damn. Love your Jordan/LeBron Doctor debate! You are such Whovians now.

I don't think this episode is as strong as World Enough and Time but it's still really good for the most part albeit a bit dragged out in places. Bill's ending is a mixed bag. It doesn't quite sit right with me either. I think they did her dirty. I hate the fate she was given as a Cyberman as they've now done it to her and Danny. Plus while Heather saving Bill makes sense, it would probably hit the feelings more if they had gotten more screen time together in the first episode but it was very time jumpy so its lacking that emotional weight even though it tried. Plus I just don't buy that she'd leave The Doctor so soon even if it seemed like he was dead. So far, Martha's the only companion to walk away untouched. But I really like the final scene with 12, Bill and Nardole. Makes me wish they had more time together cause that's a nice trio. The Masters stabbing each other in the back was also good. This is definitely Capaldi's best series for me. Tennant is still my Doctor though and I also feel like Tennant had the better written seasons overall. Capaldi's era sadly doesn't click with me until this series. Bill is def my favourite Moffat era companion though despite the ending.

2025-07-01 16:23:48 +0000 UTCYou first saw the Mondasian Cybermen in An Adventure in Space and Time the TVM of the origins of Dr Who. The opening image had one smoking a cigarette. They were from the planet mondas, a twin of Earth that was in danger and they wished to exchange Earth for the same fate. I took Bill's fate harder than what happened to previous companians. She was just a normal girl with no affectation or agendas. Seemingly only on the Tardis for five minutes. New Who has been hard on companions compared with classic with only Martha getting away with comparative minor damage.
