Hiatus (?)

This should be the last time I update this post.

The current plan is for me to get back home (more or less) full time on Sunday, meaning I can get back to work. First priority is to get the couple of unfinished commissions completed that are now far overdue. And then I'll be working on Patreon stuff all the time. Given the circumstances, there'll be no author's choice, and we'll just do chapter release alongside a day-long poll for the next update, while I work on the chapter to come from that. With any luck, it might make up for the missed updates, but there's no guarantee.

Same circumstance as before. Less than four chapters before June? I'll pause payments for the month.

UPDATE 1

I'll keep this restricted to this post and update as the situation changes. I don't want to turn this Patreon into my personal blog, that's not what you're here for.

The morning after I originally posted this, I got a phone call. He passed away Monday afternoon, surrounded by family. I've spent this week at my mum's house helping her cope and will probably continue to do so for... An indeterminate period. As a result, I've only been at home at my computer for a couple hours a day, meaning I can't get any meaningful work done.

I'll give another update when the situation changes. Until then, it's seeming more and more likely I'll suspend payments to this Patreon for the coming month.

ORIGINAL POST

I have some unfortunate news, and I'm going to do my best to avoid my usual textual affectations for the sake of this coming across professional when I currently feel anything but.

My stepdad went into hospital today. He has been very ill for a long time but we have unequivocally reached the final days. Doctors have said days or weeks, not months. As a result, I can make absolutely no guarantees about whether I will be able to release the chapters in anything even approaching the normal schedule. Sounds absurd to think I might be able to. But on the other hand, working to escape unpleasant feelings is a bit of a family trait. Hasn't shown in me before but who knows.

Given the circumstances, I may or may not put a pause on the next scheduled payment. If I obviously haven't held up my end, I'll pause it. If my some baffling miracle I end up posting four chapters this month, I'll probably leave it running? Unless people definitively don't want me to. Because either way, this month will not be what I promise on the blurb.

If I do post a chapter, expect the poll for the next to go up the same day and last only two days. If I end up with an urge to write, to escape, I want to have something on the docket ready to get done right away so I don't waste the impetus.
