I know this is late but I would like to see Jo Martin (first non white female Dr). come in with a run. Since we don't know where she comes in the Drs time line it would be fun.

It definitely looked like Ruby was meant to be the companion this season. So I don't know what went on there. It's funny how Belinda started as this self assured nurse and ended up as a stay at home mom. Conrad would be so proud.

I watched this at the cinemas on Saturday and I have so many conflicting thoughts. I should first start with the good though. The good moments...I thought Anita returning to save the day and reuniting with The Doctor was great. Nice use of the time hotel. I liked the UNIT battle against the Skeletons with everyone scrambling to fight together. Ruby being the one to face Conrad also worked. Ruby also being the only one to notice Poppy's absence and tying it together with her previous disappearance in the church episode was also very effective in how it made everyone else and The Doctor realise that Poppy was missing. Millie Gibson was a huge standout in those scenes. I also loved the scene with Ncuti Gawta and Jodie Whittaker. Obviously I won't talk much about this since you guys haven't met her properly yet but it was genuinely lovely to have another Doctor reassure the current Doctor before their final moments. Also the final goodbye between The Doctor and Belinda with Poppy was also bittersweet. The music during the regeneration scene was also great. The brief Mel and Rani exchange was also welcome. However....god. There are still several issues that plague this episode. One being that Omega basically got the Sutekh treatment from Series 14. Turned into a giant CGI monster that only lasts for a few minutes. At least Sutekh dusted the world. Omega just lasted 5 minutes. And it's also such a waste to have Archie's Rani being eaten like that. That was disappointing. They should have just had both Ranis and Conrad as big bad trinity. There's already too much to handle when you're cramming another Classic villain into narrative and not giving them the justice that they need. At least have Omega breaking the Vindicator or putting it further from The Doctor's reach. It would at least be something to make him of a challenge for The Doctor to beat. Also Belinda got sidelined hard. It's such a shame too because she was handled so well for the first few episodes but lost some of her agency in the later episodes. Varada has been brilliant and deserved more time to shine. Thirdly Ncuti leaving also feels too soon. I was desperately hoping that he'd stay for at least one more series. When Poppy disappeared, I kept speculating maybe Series 16 will be Ncuti travelling together with Ruby and Belinda (as a companion duo) for more adventures or even potentially having Anita as the new companion. Obviously we couldn't escape the rumours of him leaving but I was hoping it wouldn't be true as there was a leaked photo of Ncuti and Varada dancing (which made me think he was staying). There's current speculation and discussion of the ending being rewritten for Ncuti's departure so I'm curious to know what the original plans were. I'm actually really sad. I know Ncuti is expanding for other horizons as a growing actor but I feel like he still had so much to give as The Doctor. He didn't even the face the Daleks or Cybermen or other established New Who villains which is crazy. He didn't even get to face any original villains outside of the Pantheon members. Such a shame. He didn't even say goodbye to Ruby either. It feels wrong and too premature for my liking. As for Ncuti regenerating into Billie Piper....I don't know I feel about it yet. It feels too weird. Regardless of whether she's the new Doctor or not, this feels very backwards and confusing. I love Billie as an actress. She was great as Rose and The Moment but this feels so bizarre. I still need to process it as it's been two days but this decision still feels wrong...it just left me thinking "Why?". Also no Susan was disappointing cause I really wanted a reunion with her and The Doctor. Most of this series was still enjoyable but man. I just wish Nucti had more time in the role.
