I understand what Syntell is saying, I think it's more to do with Dr Who being a show with no ending, if it has an ending, the Dr really should learn his lesson and you can do it like that but because they have more seasons going on forever essentially where you need companions, if he learns that lesson you'll lose a part of the show, so what Syntell says SHOULD happen story wise, but because of the show needing companions it's a character trait that wont get resolved, but the show it is means they can't resolve it. Does that make sense? lol

To be with Rory alone as a regular wife. It wasn’t about him learning not to take companions. But to give Rory his space to be a regular husband with Amy like in the dream episode from S5.
