Boy did this comic go through a DRAMATIC CHANGE. But clearly I was set on making this a Barry Friendly comic from the very beginning. Bloody love Barry.

The original draft was quite messy and hard to follow, frantically darting between inner monologues and e-mail conversation. It overcomplicated things, it's good to streamline narrative methods where possible, especially when dealing with such a short story. Using e-mail dialogue as the ONLY conversation vastly improved the pacing of this comic. The attention-to-detail addict within me was tempted to write out actual e-mails, but I felt like any extra text--no matter how witty--would distract too much, I felt that just keeping the sign-offs as the ONLY legible text was THE ULTIMATE MOVE and judging by this comic's reception, I MADE A GOOD DECISION.

I was also very happy with this one for visual reasons. The faces in particular. Especially the one in the 3rd panel, while significantly simpler than the 5th panel face, I feel like I really captured the mood perfectly, the slight shadowed eyes, the slight teeth grit, the slouch over, the LEAN FORWARD. You can really feel those SEETHING VIBES.

I've been enjoying the sudden burst in fanmail using ULTIMATE REGARDS.

Also jee we are still quite behind on these devbulge posts huh. I was gonna post this sooner but I'VE BEEN ILL FOR QUITE A WHILE NOW but I am on the way back to feeling great, well, good enough to write this up anyway.
