🔖 little changes to the patreon billing system!

some things are happening on the patreon platform and i wanted to keep you all updated! for current patrons who subscribed before the first of november 2024, you have absolutely nothing to worry about

🔖 UPDATE #1

apple will be charging a 30% App Store Fee if subscriptions are purchased through the Patreon iOS App. admittedly i and many other creators are upset about this, but sadly there was not much we could do. luckily, there is a way around this!

this doesn't affect current patrons of mine, so if you are already a patron, no stress at all, it will only affect people who have joined or join after Nov 1st, 2024. if you want to avoid the 30% extra charge, you can subscribe to Patreon creators through the website (by going to patreon dot com on your web browser and typing in your creator there) and not through the iOS app

🔖 UPDATE #2

all creators are required to switch over to Subscription Billing starting Nov 1st, 2024, if we want users to be able to subscribe through the app. this change will not affect current patrons, so again, if you are already a patron, no stress at all! subscription Billing means that if someone new pledges, they will be charged the day they pledge and the next charge will land on the same day of the next month (ex. if you join November 10th, the next time you'll be charged on December 10th).

🔖 some questions you may have~

1. what if I like being charged on the first of the month?

if you are subscribing to a creator's page for the first time and you want to be charged on the 1st of every month, you can join their page on the first of the month! that way you will be charged on the first of the month for as long as you stay subscribed to them. i know it's a little more inconvenient to have to wait, but this will be a good option if you like having all your subscriptions and charges grouped at the beginning of the month.

2. i like subscribing through the app, and would prefer that

now that i and all other creators are being encouraged to switch over, you can continue to subscribe through the iOS app, but just know there will be an extra 30% fee added to it. if you want to avoid the extra 30% fee charged on the app when joining a creator's page, opt to join through the website page instead. even if you subscribe through the website, you can still access your patron only content via the app, just don't subscribe through the app directly! you'll save your hard-earned money this way!
