2025-10-13 07:29:27 +0000 UTCLiterally the first time I cried reading anything. I've cried during movies, shows, anime, video games, even music has made me tear up but damn did this chapter slap me across the face

2025-09-18 20:21:34 +0000 UTCI will say for me personally, the manga had the same impact. Never in a million years did I think I would cry reading any form of manga, comic, book etc. but this chapter/episode did. I remember when I first read it, for the first time I did not want to see this animated cos I knew I was gonna cry more than I did at my own wedding 😭

2025-09-18 12:09:55 +0000 UTCIt definitely was just as impactful in the manga. Rarely has the manga made me emotional in recents years/arcs This was something else Oda still knows how to destroy you

2025-09-17 14:03:45 +0000 UTCThe most emotionally devastating, yet still heartwarming, piece of media I have ever consumed. When I was reading the chapters, I had no idea what would come with each week, but I knew I would be a complete wreck every Sunday until it was over. The last chapter, in particular, left me completely unresponsive for an entire day. I was better prepared when watching the anime, and I chose to watch everything at once so I could just get it over with (BIG MISTAKE). By the time I was done, I was curled up in my bed, the pillow I was clutching completely SOAKED in tears, feeling lightheaded and faint. One Piece has somehow perfected the art of creating "emotional pain," which will leave marks on our souls until the end of time. I have never in my life cried this much, other than when my grandfather passed away last year. I hope that if I ever have kids, I can provide them with even half of the love that Kuma had for Bonney. I could write an entire book on the emotions I have felt while reading/watching One Piece, and I'm sure many others can say the same. Some probably will when the series ends in 10 years. But until then, let us sail the waves of emotions together until the end!

2025-09-17 04:25:55 +0000 UTCYou would think it gets easier after the first 5 or so times, but I always end up a sobbing, choked up mess after the end

2025-09-17 04:21:56 +0000 UTCAs a manga reader… this was only chapter, only piece of written literature in history that has ever made me cry. The panels of him “disappearing” while running…beautifully done. Him running, he would start disintegrating and cut back n forth with the memories before he fully disappears. Also ima single father with sole custody of my child… my daughter.

2025-09-16 23:59:46 +0000 UTCI think it would be better if he was restored because it was repeated multiple times through the flashback and especially in this episode that Nika would come and save him. It would work so well if he becomes restored because of Luffy helping him.

2025-09-16 23:00:08 +0000 UTCI am a Manga reader, and anime watcher. I cried abit while reading the manga! The anime Opening (Angel & Devil) broke me. (becoming the first anime opening I cried too.) When 1129 came out I decided to hold off on watching until the entire flashback + 1 ep came out. So on the day 1137 came out I binged it. Totally broke me, cried for what felt like 10 hours ( More like 4 hours In reality). Loved the reaction! Can¨t wait for reactions to the next couple of episodes! as for the upincoming new OP it is safe to watch after 1144.(For the most part, there is technically 1 more spoiler but it is unbeliavably hard to see and understand)

2025-09-16 17:36:43 +0000 UTCBeautiful episode, beautiful reaction 🫶. I honestly hope that Kuma isn’t restored because it takes something away from the weight of this backstory, BUT if it were to happen I do think that Pudding might play a part since she could potentially manipulate the memories in Bonney and Kuma.

2025-09-16 17:25:39 +0000 UTCOne theory that the fans have, and that give me that coping hope, is that... What IF, Pudding could take the memories from Bonney's head, and implant into Kuma's? Would that bring him back? At least it could bring the memories, but we don't know about his "sense of self and free will".

2025-09-16 17:23:08 +0000 UTCPrez put right - sad but beautiful. That's how I'd sum up these flashbacks. I mean the darkest flashbacks to me where the Law, Brook and Robin ones. But with Kuma I didn't feel completely like that, because there was so much hope and joy between. This will go straight into my favourite flashback arcs. The last time I've been moved like that, and not just crushed, was with the Mt.Blanc Noland one, which to this day is one of my favourites.

2025-09-16 16:52:17 +0000 UTCWe feel ya prez. Let it out, bro! 👊 I think anime and Manga are similar in impact. Which hits harder depends on the person. For me the anime edges out ever so slightly, primarily due to music.

2025-09-16 16:29:37 +0000 UTCin my opinion, maybe might be unpopular. Kumas back story was sadder in the manga due to the black and white and the way Oda drew it. However, the anime was still done beautifly.

2025-09-16 15:44:21 +0000 UTC"Happy 10th birthday" these words destroyed me. Everyone told Kuma that Bonnie wouldn't live to see her 10th birthday. Kuma lost his freedom, lost his soul, but his daughter met her 10th birthday, it's phenomenal, Oda. One Piece is the greatest anime in the world.

2025-09-16 15:44:04 +0000 UTCFor me the manga was just as powerful as the anime, it was probably the only time I cried reading a manga chapter. And the Kuma running scene in the manga is iconic showing Kuma running through out his life almost tripped over when Ginny dies but continues to run because of Bonny with the Nika pose

2025-09-16 15:31:11 +0000 UTCWHY DO I KEEP PUTTING MYSELF THROUGH THIS! Every reaction channel I watch this entire episode, and I. CRY. EVERY. SINGLE: TIME!!!

2025-09-16 15:17:32 +0000 UTCBonnie is actually reading the letters through Kuma’s memory. Also this chapter was actually released around Christmas. Many manga reactors who usually doesn’t cry were crying reading this chapter. Oda uncharacteristicly couldn’t finish the scene where Ginny dies and Kuma teleports himself to the church, it must have been hard for Oda to write Kuma’s story since he also has a daughter 😢
Pht0m(Alex)
2025-09-16 15:10:18 +0000 UTCI mainly read the manga and really only watch with these two but man I was debating hardcore on whether I wanted to watch this animated. I still did it 😭

2025-09-16 14:12:32 +0000 UTCIt's consoling to know that, through seeing his memories, Bonney was finally able to get all of his letters.

2025-09-16 14:00:32 +0000 UTCKoyama (director of this episode and one of our series directors) outdone himself again. He loves to play with this old tv filter and managed to turn such a fan favourite chapter into an amazing emotional ride of an episode.

2025-09-16 13:45:22 +0000 UTCAs I said before, my favorite episode of One Piece. To me, this story is one of hope in a dark world mired by racism, slavery, genocide, and many other terrible things. Oda said this was a pirate story that children can enjoy, but it also extends to a darker story that adults can appreciate and the message of everyone should be free to enjoy life. Hence, why I love Luffy as a character so much and what he means to Kuma

2025-09-16 13:43:57 +0000 UTCI skipped these episodes when they were releasing cause of the pain lol. Kuma's story is genuinely just too sad and heroic at the same time and the way it was shown devastated me even knowing the plot of the manga already. I even usually skip these episodes when rewatching reactors unless the full set it out cause its too hard to slowly watch it play out again man. Still fantastic episodes but oda laid on the depression thick
