Actually, he's based on a real pirate named William Kidd, who was very unlucky in his career as a privateer/pirate and was eventually executed as a pirate and a murderer. But even more than that, it was irresponsible toward his crew. Still, the hate he gets sometimes feels over the top. It’s not like the other two captains would’ve stood a chance against Shanks at this point in the story either.

Well, one got resolved at least. Not that Kidd sucks, it just that Shanks is quite literally on top of the food chain. Heck, Shanks even showed him respect, by warning the others not to underestimate him, and coming at him seriously. In the end I'm just happy that we finally got see Shanks do stuff. Unlike Mihawk. I mean, we've seen S-Hawk fight more than Mihawk 😂

He took a copy of one from one of Big Mom’s generals, and the third he got in Wano cause he fought together with us. I believe Shanks knows how to get to Zou since he’s been there before which means he should potentially have access to all four Road Poneglyphs, right?

I had high hopes for him but just nothing has really fleshed him out even in the manga currently. There’s also something similar about him with another pirate but I don’t want to mention it yet cause it’s kinda spoiler.
