They dont have haki they were frozen in place , barely able to breathe and forced to watch as Big mom ate them one by one. It would have made more sense so say Geburts-tag or even Geburts-tag instead of Gebur-tstag. No native speaker would seperate the syllables like Camel did.

I think if she did realize it at some point she'd kill herself or something, because they were her everything, literally everything. Her dream, her habits, it's all from them. And to think that even after 60+ she's still waiting for mother to come back.... It's fucked up, but in a very interesting and brilliant way. THAT'S HOW PEAK THE WHOLE CAKE ISLAND ARC IS. Easily top 3 arc of all the one piece

So, I'd say the scene is more dark humor then an actual sad scene. And the head chef is indeed theorized to be Big Mom's first husband, or at least sexual partner to give her Perospero. Super creepy to think about, but Linlin wouldn't know any better, and the guy was already willing to use her to his own merits. I wouldn't be surprised if he went there...

Like, the music is sad and emotional, and the narrator is even saying "what a lovely birthday", but it is all just playing with how we normally experience these flashbacks. The narrator knows the truth but is playing dumb, because this is how Linlin saw it. It is all for the purpose of thinking "aww... is this happy? Sad?" right before being horrified and realizing that SHE FUCKING ATE THEM ALL.

She is mentally stucked in the limbo of her childhood trying to recreate tea parties with food, family and friends and trasforming Whole Cake Island in her playgroung. She still has the mindset of a spoiled and selfish child who throws a tantrum (aka mass murder) when she doesn't get what she wants. Even her obsession with getting one of every race under her preaching equality but treating it like a collector is an example of the (twisted) desire of a child to collect toys.
