Before I was indifferent about her, but now? And that Memo-Memo fruit is wild. You could legit brainwash people massively like that.

2024-08-24 01:38:06 +0000 UTCthe reveal we all have been waiting for 🔥🔥 + when Brook said " Sanji is ready to sacrifice himself" he's not just talking about what Sanji is doing now, but also back in Thriller Park if you remember, Brook was the only one who saw what happened between Zoro, Sanji, and Kuma, Sanji would've been the " nothing happened " if it weren't for Zoro knocking him out, so Brook MEANT what he said and then of course you gonna have some toxic fans (mainly Zoro fans, sorry) saying sht like "Sanji isn't loyal he kicked Luffy and betrayed him etc" it's like we're not even watching the same show 🤦🏻♀️

One of my favorite (funny) comparisons to Luffy's reaction to getting Sanji back is very like Shrek 2. XD And I'm glad no one else spoiled anything as well. The genuine reactions from you both regarding Pudding was priceless.

During fishman island, when Big Mom was first shown, Pudding was with her in the room, three eyes and everything - When the crew first met Pudding and she told them about "meeting Sanji the day before", she described him with hearts for eyes, black legs and curly eyebrows. That is just what a person would say who has only ever seen his wanted poster. - Immediately after they first met Pudding, during the song, Big Mom gets the news that the straw hats have arrived. Pudding was the reason everyone knew they were there.

And, to this day, every time I watch it, I feel so horribly bad for Sanji; it really is the heaviest heartbreak. His face when he saw Pudding... he was just petrified. I know it felt like a punch to the gut that leaves you breathless for some time before you even realize what happened. Sanji crying at the end shows us that his very last ray of light was taken from him. She really played us all.

2024-08-22 17:58:28 +0000 UTCThe scene is also such an amazing contrast to Sanji when leaving the Baratie, where he is sitting in front of the door trying to light his cigarette as well, while being upset about them insulting his cooking. But in that case he is listening to them revealing why they were acting and pretending and how much they care about him and that they want to push him out to follow his dream, while here he is listening to a similar reveal but now by someone that only pretended to care about him and being trapping in a situtation that keeps him from his dream.

2024-08-22 17:58:00 +0000 UTCI love this reveal and also I'm so glad this rarely ever gets spoiled for people. It's just so fun to watch people in all the episodes prior to be so taken by Pudding and how sweet and helpful she is. (Because while I do have actually always seen the proposal scene as very depressing instead as I mentioned on that episode, it was never because I suspected anything bad from her at all, she was simply another victim in this to me that Sanji feels so bad for that he can't help himself but try to at least make her happy). And as heartbreaking as that whole scene is, I had an odd reaction to it initially because to me, Sanji's happiness during and since that proposal has always felt very fake. He's trying to tell himself he is happy, doing all the things he normally does, but there are those moments where you see him shortly "break character" e.g. changing topics when the Strawhats are mentioned and just starting to cook or starring at the tangerine while asking "i wonder if she is fine?" making it seem like it's very much Nami/the crew he is thinking about, not Pudding. So when that happiness now gets also taken away, I felt still sad and mad but also oddly relieved(?) in a way, because he now can't even delude himself anymore about being fine. It's obviously still heartcrushing and the fact that he is now even called a failure by Pudding is just rage enducing. He was treated like one his whole childhood because of what he wasn't and now the one moment in this whole situation where he was being honest and himself, he gets mocked for when simply trying to care about someone else and now even that is used against him. And btw, there are some very subtle hints about Pudding in the arc (plus a kind of "big" one during Fishman Island where you see her with her third eye actually, but noone ever remembers that :D) But during the arc there are some clear moments where she is lying to the Strawhats e.g. early on about having met Sanji already. (She has an odd line about his "black leg" which makes it seem like she has been told stuff about him but never herself met him) and then we later also see that the lunch is pretty much the first time they meet. Sorry for rambling once again, but this whole scene/arc as a whole is just so good.
