2024-08-18 12:49:40 +0000 UTCSanji is such a great representation of the arc as a whole: on the outside and the surface everything is joyful, colorful and a fairy tale, but it's just a very fake front that hides the actual pain and tragedy behind it. A friend and I a while ago talked about how this arc really is the "Disney" arc in every sense. It's essentially the mix of going to Disneyworld or watching the latest movie, seeing all the perfectly constructed settings, but then someone actually pulls you behind the scenes and you get the full length documentary about the working conditions or something like the very recent news report on Disney arguing you can't sue them over getting killed in their park because you signed the Disney+ free trial month EULA. :D

Cuz it's so fascinating and exciting every single time, Oda's imagination is amazing, even the thing with the bookmark was so little but so cool

2024-08-18 07:43:33 +0000 UTCAgain, I love this arc so much for its contrasts, like Sanji proposing is joy and comfort for Pudding and something sad for the strawhats, Sanji being in such a dark place at the moment but still trying to be happy with what he has left because he found his hope. Lola was forced to marry but refused and went into the seas, hoping to find the love that she chooses. And there is still so much peak ahead. You enjoy your time experiencing it all boys

Also I feel so bad for Sanji pretending to be the old self. He's trying so hard to convince himself that marrying Pudding is the right choice and would be a fair sacrifice for everyone he loves. Also trying not to make it a buden for Pudding.

SOUL KING honestly brook has been one of my favorites for like 4 years now , when I got to this arc back then I couldn't stop smiling whenever Brook got a chance to pop off ! 2024-08-17 09:02:52 +0000 UTCYou touch on something that is part of why WCI is one of my favorite arcs especially post-timeskip: all of the present Strawhats are "utilized" very well in the story. It's something that has gotten tough post-timeskip as there are so many of them, but then in Dressrosa oda started to do the half-and-half split and continues it in WCI so he can focus on the ones present. And while I don't think it worked all that well for Dressrosa yet, just because Law was such a big focus by himself and there are also so many other new characters that are barely connected to the Strawhats, in WCI it really pays out. Having each Strawhat sort of pair of with one of the side characters just ties it together pretty well. I know people usually view the Carrot/Chopper stuff as the least interesting, but I still like their dynamic and it's still keeps tying back to all the other stuff, and then Pedro/Brook is another thing happening with some cool moments. Luffy and Nami obviously are sort of on the main story track and Sanji bringing in the backstory and connection to the past angle.
