2025-04-25 15:51:03 +0000 UTCA scene that always squeezed my heart but after knowing what Sanji went through hits on a whole different level is when on the rock he tells Zeff "you have no reason to be kind to me". A kid saying that always felt wrong, but knowing now that this was literally Sanji's childhood it breaks my heart every time. This little kid couldn't comprehend that he didn't have to achieve anything to be loved and cared about. That simply existing can be enough for someone to care.

Though, some forums/fans say he was 10 when Zeff comes into his life. But, there is also a really cute 2-page short from the One Piece Party manga where Zeff, Patty, and Carne bake Sanji a birthday cake... XD

I guess he has never had any trouble in battles until he met Nami and Luffy lol, that's why he's so annoyed and puzzled

They are very inspired by Sentai Shows, like Kamen Rider or Power Rangers, and have elements from both the heroes and villains of those properties. And because the villains in classic sentai shows are often portrayed with nazi symbology or fascist ideology, Germa in return has those same parallels.

It covers on a larger scale a few full arcs and Dressrosa is pretty much the latest of them. The only other thing I noticed that I used to warn people of is that there are some references to Germa as they show up as references (I think you can e.g. find action figures of them) but storywise there isn't really anything else covered beyond those character mentions.

2024-08-09 08:44:00 +0000 UTCIn regards to Judge/Germa: the latter isn't missing a lot of letters in terms of the country you compared it to, so yeah (plus the symbology in their castle is also very german). He also is still probably up there in most hated characters in One Piece for me. There are arguably people that did a lot worse on a large scale, but the fact that Judge treated his very own child like this is still on a level of cruelty that is insane. There are people like the Celestial Dragons or Doflamingo that oppress whole kingdoms, enslave people they view as lesser etc. but to look your own child in the eye and wish them dead and treat them like that for the crime of being "too human" is a whole other type of horrible.
