Man this Sanji flashback is heartbreaking. I'm curious about the mom though. And the father. At beginning at least he was still believing in his son, hoping that if he worked hard he could overcome (which he kinda did over the years). Maybe he changed after she passed? It's a classical trope. Or maybe I'm reading into it too much. Hopefully the sister will be on our side!

You really feel for Sanji, how he's always just wanted to cook and care for others but isn't allowed to because of his awful father and brothers. Not even Reiju can be herself without fear of being bullied, and she's STRONG.

Sanji's childhood is actually so insanely fucked up. Imagining myself in his shoes gets me so anxious and depressed. And he still managed to become a kind and loving person that he is. His childhood trauma is partly the fuel that gets him to do his best to not be like his so-called family (except for Reiju and the mom) and strive for more real, gentle and humane things
