They are more important for what comes after the Church, but as you saw, they are connected to that too. Besides political maneuvering, there is economic maneuvering. To reiterate, this part of the series is the most political..... This episode also mirrors episodes in other seasons when they were enumerating who would be the players in any potential battles. Btw, the Kurenai are ogres who evolved from Hobgoblins party out of admiration of Benimaru. Apparently ogres are the next step in evolution. Last episode Glenda had a gun strapped to her leg during the meeting. Also we have the introduction of Damrada, and the first indications of what the Eastern Empire is up to. That Empire is pretty secretive. They seemingly only interact with the outside world through trade cities, which was mentioned last week. They also mention the underground organization Cerberus..... They tried to say it, but I don't think that it came through: the Rozzo's think that Rimuru won't be able to help Youm because he won't be able to split his attention away from Hinata and the other Crusaders, etc.
