Dammit, Oda, always getting real harsh in those flasbacks ;_; 38:40 man that was tough. And Prez put it so well here. Fisher Tiger was such an interesting person.

Great reaction, I love this flashback so much for obvious reasons, but also because it really shows us how good a storyteller Oda actually is and that he manages to keep characters like Arlong relevant even hundreds of chapters/episodes later. With Oda you never know which characters will come back later in the story and I love that about One Piece. Not only the main characters get developement and relevance to the story and that's what makes it a lot more interesting and fun than a lot of other anime/manga, at least in my opinion.

2023-10-26 16:44:45 +0000 UTCI love this flashback. For all the structural flaws of the arc sorrounding it, the flashback might be Oda's most ambitious storytelling with tackling racism and having MLK and Malcom X - like figures (obviously not 1:1, but in allusion to) in Otohime and Tiger.

Koala's PTSD is so heartbreaking but at the same time its so good to see her get a little bit better and acknowlenge that not all fishmen are bad

Prez nailed it with recognizing that Tiger held too much hatred for humans deep down and couldn’t even accept them (their blood) being the reason for living forward.

(Latest is in the works) AS we go into the New world arcs The anime becomes very fraud with: Flashback, Reiteration. Long stances. Long running scenes. All to fluff it out because the manga cant keep up. Just an Idea: Other wise you bois are awesome and cant wait for your reactions.
