To answer the question about the Predator Skill, it isn't an auto win. If the thing Rimuru tries to "eat" has it's own conscious will, it can fight back against him. The reason he ate Vledora, and eventually, the Orc Lord was because they allowed themselves to be eaten.

2025-01-02 01:40:17 +0000 UTCThis is a great explanation of that battle that summarizes the intricacies very well. Geld was a Demon Lord Seed and even before he rose to that level by eating Gelmud, him and his army were a major threat to not only the Jura Forest but even large human nations that surround it. This was not an easy battle and honestly, Geld was more powerful than Rimuru at the time because Rimuru had not risen to the level of Demon Lord Seed yet. Predator was a good matchup against Starved.

2024-04-02 21:30:10 +0000 UTCActually Rimuru has a hard time with this battle. After observing his subordinates fail, using skills they had gotten from him but were optimized for them because they had great affinity for those Skills, all at the same time on the Orc Disaster, Rimuru knew he could not beat him that way. Then he tried logic in the form of Great Sage but that didn't work. The only thing left was using his Slime basic instincts, which were Predator and Regeneration (he always had that btw). A Predator bests a mere eater (Starved). He still had to convince Geld to give up.

2023-10-29 06:08:23 +0000 UTCIf you watch other reactors many of them outright complained during certain parts of s2 because they found it too chatty not actiony enough

2023-10-29 06:08:08 +0000 UTCWho in their right mind would hate the moments the characters are just talking in this show. Rimuru & co are OP. He basically has infinite health potions to heal any wound, and all grudges and potential consequences of the fights are most often swept under the rug. The fights are good spectacles, sure. But the "chatty bits" are the real interesting part of the show. I mean... Rimuru is usually more tense talking about his next meal and smart city planning than he his fighting unbeatable monsters. Even when he's loosing, he barely bats an eye.

2023-10-26 19:06:34 +0000 UTCThis is because the anime is like the 3rd time the story has been rewritten, with it originally being like, 2000 chapters of a light novel or something that took me a month to read through using all my free time (incredible read btw) so everything in the story is the result of a shit load of refinement and polish on the authors part

2023-10-25 06:26:50 +0000 UTCLike for example, nothing ever really gets forgotten, be it the names of monsters he killed in ep 1-2, random characters you see once a millenium etc, its always consistent

2023-10-25 06:24:56 +0000 UTCMost people who watch this show HATE the chatty moments and im glad you guys seem alright with them because the main thing that seperates this show from the usual isekai is its IMMACULATE attention to world building
