I have this theory about combustion man's bending style lol. I think back to the guru explaining the Light Chakra, the one in the center of the forehead and how it deals with insight, but is blocked by illusion. As Toph's beating around in the box he says, "even the separation of the for elements is an illusion. If you open your mind, you will see that all the elements are one. Four parts of the same whole. Even metal is just a part of earth that has been purified, and refined." I'm wondering if he's able to firebend the way he does because he's almost adopted some airbending-like techniques for it. Similar to Iroh inventing redirection by applying waterbending to his firebending, i think it's possible he can remotely firebend by using the Light Chakra's principles and studying any airbending knowledge left in the world to apply it to his bending. His third eye is directly over the light chakra. And that's where it bursts from. So. 🤷🏻♂️

2023-05-31 19:03:42 +0000 UTCI'd probably agree that they only use combustion bend if wasn't for the fact P'li used a firebending move to block the Dragon fire in TLOK. They probably use combustion bending more often because its more powerful.

2023-05-31 02:51:51 +0000 UTCSo. From what I remember combustion bending is actually a form of Fire bending, the same way lightning generation - or metal bending for earth - is. But unlike lightning generation, which is kind of a prestige extra move, combustion bending seems like a one trick pony. I believe all the combustion benders in ATLA and TLOK ONLY combustion bend.
