The backgrounds were plain and blocky which took my attention at first but the fight scene itself isn!5 too bad in my opinion. It doesn’t really detract the overall rest of the anime for me, especially since the later episodes will get wayyy better animations

2023-05-14 02:29:55 +0000 UTCSo the reason this episode animation was different but wonky was due to the Black Clover anime staff was only given a very short amount of time to create this episode due to the series being weekly. (Just Imagine Black Clover being seasonal). However, the anime staff knew how big and important this episode was so they tried a different animation style but didn't have time to perfect it. Don't worry cause they learned from this episode and every big and emotional fight after this arc is done beautifully.

2023-05-13 18:01:14 +0000 UTCThe animation was hard to follow at points, really good in some moments. I definitely enjoyed it. Also, considering this was like an unfinished work cause of the budget, animator change, schedule, etc. So, very inconsistent. Was still hype af tho.

Initially I really disliked this episode for its animation but on a rewatch I noticed that the animation wasn't bad, it was just the art and backgrounds were quite messy. Overall though I've come to appreciate this episode after some time. The TV version was even worse than blu ray as they had so little time to make the episode and lack of a strong workforce. They were experimenting with this episode, after this point the big fights will be even crisper.
