The reason katara and Sokka are “tan” is because they are modeled after Indigenous tribes I think called Inuit… something like that. That’s why they aren’t pale lol

2023-05-10 12:56:43 +0000 UTCYou have to keep a few things in mind though. When a show first starts its own season, it needs to do some searching around to settle down on. So S1 had quite a bit of that episodic content and filler-like stuff. It's something they could fall back on if the audience wasn't that into the adventuring aspect of it. On top of that, they still needed to introduce characters, build the world, develop them, etc. The audience loved it, so late in S1 they basically went almost all-in on that aspect and they didn't let up until the show finished. And even the filler-like episodes are better thanks to the groundwork S1 did with character development. So while I think S2 and S3 is when the show is at its best... I also think it's important to not ignore the important groundwork S1 did to make them so amazing in the first place.
