Something to do with earth bending minerals and water bending certain fluids idk I’ll have to re read. So she basically let her self pass when she felt she was done.

I haven't looked into this, but I believe that Earth Benders tend to live the longest out of all the nations just based on some of the characters that have been shown throughout the ATLA universe. Now, regarding the Boulder, he is meant to be a reference to the Rock. They wanted Dwayne Johnson to voice him, but they got his old tag team partner Mick Foley to do the voice.
