I just wanted to say, I really dig you guys' vibe. I like how you say "we" a lot when talking about Asta and it's fun watching your theories and commentary as someone who has seen and loves this anime (and the manga). Looking forward to continuing the journey with you, I think you two are the best reactors to this series, and I've seen many. Keep up the excellent work!

2023-03-16 18:54:38 +0000 UTCyeah he isn't nearly as bad as the anime plays for the comedy, but to the anime's credit, they didn't have alot to work with for gauche at this point in the story either, happens with alot of characters in multiple series. Another good example of this is the Sol "nee-san" schtick. She doesn't do it in the manga anywhere near the level she does in the anime, but given limited knowledge of her at the time, they just use the characterization that is already known. That is why he gets way better as his character gets fleshed out

2023-03-16 15:22:19 +0000 UTCThere's actually a ton of scenes where they made gauche have a nosebleed and change some of his dialogue to push the "comedy" aspect of his character. Idk if I can find the link but someone set up a side-by-side comparison of gauche scenes in the anime and manga. There are SO MANY times gauche is having a nosebleed in the anime that doesn't appear in the manga.

2023-03-16 08:56:56 +0000 UTCso if it makes you guys feel any better about gauche, the shop scene and some of gauches lines about marie are entirely anime only basically adding elements for the "comedy", but it misses its mark a tad bit. Gauche as a character overall is just super protective of Marie given their backstory which will be explained later. He loves his sister, but he isn't actually in love with her if that makes you feel any better, that is just the anime exaggerating traits. Also bit of a spoiler...Gauche just has Anemia....so the nose bleed isn't a boner lol. It is tied to getting excited, but overall it is just his excitement to see her, not horny excited, again that is the anime taking it a tad overboard. Further spoiler as the series goes on gauche actually will get nose bleeds in regards to other characters as well.
