And then immediately after that, they had to heal Ruri. He might've wanted to wait until that was all taken care of before springing the whole "Oh Tsuakasa's men are coming to invade." And based on how surprised he was about Hyoga leading the assault, he might not have stuck around to find out who was going. He said he told them he was "going to scout ahead" so he might not have known when exactly they were going to arrive. Just that they were coming. All that being said though, these last two episode were so good! Byakuya is the best dad! Even if they're not blood related.
