The thing here is, what Fushiguro was trying to do in earlier episodes was not his domain. As Gojo said, "maybe it's because of your trumph card, you think you can resolve anything at the COST of your life. Dying to win and risking death to win are completely different.". So the thing he was always starting to do but stopped, the thing the cursed spirit got scared here, it was not his domain, it was something else that will kill him for sure, and him using his domain was the "risking death to win" instead of "dying to win". That's why he said "screw that" then did his domain.
