Leviathan Consulting's new hire

There wasn't too much to life for James. His father had taught him everything he knew about running the Family Business, and with the advent of the internet and new technology, he had inherited his old man's livelihood and ran it like a king. Well, the mostly hands off and ride along on dividends method at least. It was time for another vacation, and it was a tough call, but Malibu had a special on Executive Cruises, and who can pass up a 30% discount, right?

James settled into his cushioned seat, the jet had been airborne for about ten minutes when his phone rang. With a growing twitch of annoyance, he rejected the first two calls... but the third...

"What is it? I'm on vacation!" James bellowed.

"S-sir.... I... uh... I hate to... interr-"

"Obviously not, since I specifically told you no calls!"

His secretary was terrified about something, but James knew Ricardo could handle himself. It would have to take something really important to cause him to call like this.

"Look, I just left on vacation. Nothing is more important than-"

"You have a...a...a... takeover... demand f-f-from... Leviathan again..."

A hostile takeover? AGAIN? He had taken several calls from some nobody with some scam company called "Leviathan Consulting". It wasn't even in the phone book. He sent them packing every time. Now they wanted to play hardball? With a Fortune 500 top internet company? Hah! He was mad. He was not in the mood to play hardball with a nobody.

"Bah! Call the cops for harrassment. I don't care."

"S-she... uh... ate them."

There was a long pause.

"What?"

"They're on t-their way to... uh.. negotiate with you now... I... Oh God... they're... aagh!"

There was a metallic groan. Several seconds of what sounded like this thug's goons breaking things and causing trouble. Then the line went dead.

There was some faint thunder in the distance.

James couldn't believe it. He swore at the phone and angrily dialed 9-1-

More thunder. Approaching quickly. The jet ride suddenly became extremely turbulent, the pilot's skill the only thing that kept their suddenly wind-swept airplane from tailspinning to doom. James' seatbelt saved his life, but his phone was not so lucky having been tossed about the cabin like a pinball.

"What in blazes! What's going on!"

James looked out the window.

"James M. McDonnell, you and your complete assets are now property of Leviathan Consulting. Rheia will begin your paperwork... shortly..."

James couldn't believe the power of that thunderous voice.

Rheia plucked his jet out of the sky and tucked it into her pouch. The world went black for James. For a very, very long time.
