Thought this could use a fresh post before I finish this up. I've got our tutorial to post just as soon as the footage is edited.
I decided to change the proportions on meowth so it's more 'basic pokemon-like' , and I decided to add on the persian evolution to finish the overall concept. I'll explain my thought process, but again, hopefully you can see where I got this outcome from if you're familiar with the two parent pokemon's dex descriptions.
These are really fun! Can't wait to get to your suggestions next month.
(Also... I bet you thought a pig-like pokemon was gonna get the Ganondorf reference)

Tada!! Now for some explanation.
Before I start the design on these, I like to have a good look at their pokedex entries. Arcanine is described as graceful and legendary, while Meowth or Persian is described as a bit of a thief, or hard to control because of their mean and independent nature.
It made me think of capricious characters, who are usually considered villains, but sort of have majestic lore surrounding them. Carmen San Diego was the main Influence for the Meowth. She's a thief, but she's pretty darn mysterious and majestic, and sometimes she's not above putting aside her desires to do the right thing. I think it just depends on how she feels. Same for Axel. They're very unusual kinds of villains who task themselves with being protectors every now and again.
As for the final evolution, I decided the villainous influence should be of an even grander scale, maybe someone from royalty or very high status who also has some responsibilities they neglect for their own selfish reasons. Or maybe their selfishness strengthens their ability to perform their task. Dynasty Perrserker is so fixated on keeping its family's treasure that they make the perfect brutal guards.
I also figured only very specific people would ever make a cross like this, so that's how the 'family' concept came about. You're basically pairing the unruliness of a Persian, with the size and strength of a legendary pokemon. That's crazy!
My last comments are that I actually struggled for a while on this, trying to brainstorm the right direction to go in, or the correct colors. But, In the end I'm very happy. When I eventually did fine the right influence, the sketching part went over very easily. The incineroars I had to do a couple of passes, but I think I only needed one pass for each. And of course, I smoothed and adjusted some things when I cleaned up.
Let me know what you think if you made it through all this reading! I do intend to come back to the Perrserker, because I've been asked to draw the muscle version lololol.
