It's because normal people cannot see spiritual energy, whereas Aira only saw spirits after picking up the ball and Jiji has naturally gifted spiritual energy. There's also the scene when they were running from turbo granny in season 1, and people on the streets were just taking pictures thinking she was getting a piggyback ride. For aliens, they transport you to another dimension so everything that happens is also "not real".

2025-09-06 03:22:45 +0000 UTCSo I might be slightly off/wrong here, but I believe only the audience and the main characters can see Jiji and Okarun in their other forms. When Okarun was grabbing that dude by the collar bad mouthing Momo in season 1 they just saw him as regular Okarun. Same thing with Jiji this episode, they just see him as regular Jiji saying the Butcher stuff.
