Congress Owes You a $12,532 Stimulus Check (Script & Sources)
Added 2021-02-26 23:49:05 +0000 UTCHave you noticed that for some reason Republicans and Democrats are arguing over whether we should get $1,000 or $1,400, as if either amount is even remotely appropriate while we’re facing mass eviction and bankruptcy?
Did you know that the actual amount Congress can give every single adult in America, right now, is $12,352? That’s not a made-up number or an exaggeration, and they can do it by reversing a single bill, without touching the national debt, or any government programs like Medicare or Social Security. Here’s how:
In 2020, the US saw its worst economic growth since WWII, with record-low consumer spending which accounts for 70% of our GDP, meanwhile, billionaires added 1.3 trillion dollars to their net worth.
So speaking of billionaires, remember how Congress JUST passed a multi-trillion-dollar tax cut for the ultra-wealthy, who now, because of it, for the first time in history, pay a lower overall tax rate than the middle class? That’s $2.289 trillion dollars Congress has already approved into the national debt, and I can’t think of a single goddamn reason, not to take that money back, and give it to the people who need it. Divided among 209 million adults that’s $10,952 per person, plus the existing $1,400 bringing our total to $12,352 each.
Millionaires and billionaires don’t need a tax cut, and you would have to be an idiot not to understand that a massive influx of money in consumer spending would be unfathomably more effective than just using that money to artificially boost stock prices for companies that are firing all of us anyway. That’s OUR money being stolen from us. Give it back.
