It's the "Quick update" update...
Added 2021-09-14 16:35:37 +0000 UTCHi all, a very quick post release catch up.
Bugs and Slugs
Staggeringly, not that many - and mainly related to small typos in the text, stray apostrophes etc. Only two game bugs have come to light and both of these are on fairly obscure pathways and so you may not even come across them. This doesn't mean they shouldn't be fixed ofc, they should and will be. But I'll hold off any immediate script corrections at the moment to see if anything else crops up. With these being so minor I may as well wait another week or so until I've finished the bonus game build and do them all at the same time with a single update.
Downloads and file size
I understand that a few of have been having download problems with Mega. (I can sympathise after the amount of time it took to upload them on Sunday!) and I'm looking at better long term options. However for now, I've also uploaded the builds to DepositFiles and I'm adding the links to the download posts. I hope this helps.
On file size generally, I've had somewhat of a late breakthrough. One of the reasons the files get so large is use I lot of screens to display maps, travel scenes, and command screens and therefore the received wisdom is that for Renpy these have to be PNG files to handle the transparency issues. PNG files of course are also the largest possible image size files you can have...
However, it seems the received wisdom (and default advice) may not be all that it's cracked up to be and that I can in fact use something much, much, smaller. This will mean some formatting of images and changing the screen code in the file to have the correct suffix but, back of a ciggie packet calculation, suggests it could save around a 1Gb incredibly. So worth doing.
I'm going to test it out on the standalone Chapter One I still have first, and if it works then I'll carry it over into the rebuild. I'll keep you informed.
The rest of the month
You'll understand, I hope, that if I take a few days away from the keyboard but largely the rest of the month comes to three things. Clearing the rest of your correspondence (I still have some 30 replies to make and will try to finish these by the end of the week), outstanding commissions and the big one...
Was it worth it? I'm referring here of course to the question of animations.
But let me deal with the other issues first then I have a clear deck to discuss this properly with you. In the meantime I hope you've found something in the chapter to enjoy.

2021-09-20 18:27:32 +0000 UTCWow. @Anonymus, I have followed Notty and this game for a year now and I can tell you that there is a reason it won all the god damned awards it won. Clearly you have an issue or agenda to try and bash her work, but I do not see why. Jealousy maybe? You hiding who you are to conceal that you tried to do something remotely similar but you failed completely? That is my guess. This game is amazing.

2021-09-19 09:37:00 +0000 UTCYou should play more, there are tons of lewd of animations...
2021-09-15 15:45:20 +0000 UTCImo it was totally NOT worth it, most animations are for travelling transitions or discovering new places to explore, if they were for "lewd" scenes then MAYBE it would have been worth it to wait 11 months for an update, but in this case i would be happy with just a few renders to show you that (im talking about traveling transitions and so...) and have it a few months earlier. Like i said imo its an effort that does not have a good quality/work-time ratio.

2021-09-14 20:58:50 +0000 UTCYou deserve a break—hope you have a lovely time. I get what you mean about png images being large, but practically every implementation (including the official reference library libpng) will use some form of lossless compression so it could be worse. For "simple" images with large sections of solid colors a png will probably be smaller than a jpg. Out of curiosity I captured this fullscreen 2560x1440 browser window including the pictures on the page and browser tabs etc. and exported with various encoding settings using GIMP. The png was smaller than the jpg at default settings. Reducing the jpg quality to 85 made the jpg just smaller than the png. And of course the jpgs were visibly lossy.
