It's the "It's an update!" update...
Added 2020-06-09 07:53:56 +0000 UTCHi Hi :)
So, after the post launch excitement, back to more regular weekly updates. Last week, perhaps understandably, I didn't do a great deal other than deal with messages etc but I did do some shopping...(and no, before some of you ask not just for ciggies and jaffa cakes).
The most obvious purchases were the new/final assets for the VR levels which I shared on Sunday. It's comforting to know that I don't have to worry about design gaps going forward. But perhaps the most useful purchase which is to all our benefit was a new monitor.
Far too much of my time had been spent on error correcting once the game had gone out to testing and the majority of this time was correcting render errors. Now as you may guess from what you've seen from my work these errors aren't due to a lack of care of attention. They arise because of small graphical flaws that, working on a small monitor, I just can't/didn't see - and it's not until my testers get their hands on it with their bigger screens that they come to light. In terms of bang for our buck efficiency I think this is probably the most effective purchase I'll have made as with a 50% bigger screen I should catch these errors during the composition process and not, as is the case now, weeks later (it will hopefully also prevent such howlers as the infamous shader error...).
But that's not all of course. The main thing I'll be working on this week is the standalone CoC level and I've already designed Sarah's wardrobe for that session (understandably she's going to wear something different after last time...) and this isn't just choosing a top from the daz store. Again, as some of you have commented on, I tend to modify an awful lot of the assets I use in order to fit my universe and this goes all the way down to Sarah's t-shirts. Sadly I won't be able to preview any of the renders from the next Caverns level as it relies a lot on visual gags this time around and so don't want to spoil anything - but the testers like the concept renders so....it should be good :)
Finally I've also spent some prep time on the feasibility of animating the RPS bonus game and I'm pleased to say...it's feasible. Very.
Initial test animation attached.

This is something I'll work on as I go or as a break from scripts etc. But I'll need some eighteen animations ranging from the gameplay, to the stripping to the post strip dance each time she takes something off.
I'm keeping a little progress log on my forum here for those interested.
The one thing I haven't done is updated the Patreon front page yet, mainly as I'm struggling a bit on how best to do it. How do you explain a game like H5 with all it's variety well? *is still scratching her head on that one* but I'll try to bite that bullet today.
Annnnnnnnnd that's about it for now. Thank you for all your messages and support, I'd better get back to playing with Sarah's CoC.
Laters!

2020-06-09 15:58:19 +0000 UTCWell Jane reckoned I'd set fire to the PC...so, that's where I'd put my money *sage nods*. But more seriously, despite all the disasters , the fact that I constantly bounce back from them does, I suppose, show my dedication to doing this game. So that's something?

2020-06-09 08:08:36 +0000 UTCNice, I'm glad you're able to bulk up on your hardware, these things can be annoyingly expensive but they often make everything so much easier to the point that you can't believe how you were able to make do before 😂
