News, news, news!

Sorry for the recent batch of quietness. Partly due to RL work and partly as I didn't have anything really new to say other than....I'm working on it still. But news!

TLDR version

• Remaster is coming along and looks super!
• I keep finding ways to make things look even better and so have ended up remastering some of the remasters. Stupid I know...
• The Vanguard interior -finally- looks decent and how it should.
• I have a new computer! With a 2080TI graphics card! It's fast - and I'm in love!
• I'm thinking of "tarting up" the PDA a bit if I can to make it look better
• Some new content needed for Chapter One to replace the clickables.
• Expect chapters to start dropping next week

A lot of my time has been spent going around in circles tho, I'll be honest. Not that I've wasted the time exactly, more I've been going on a learning curve as my talents/skills on the render front just keep leaping up and I've had difficulty in knowing where to draw the line on what is "good enough". The Vanguard has been a bitch for this, which is a shame as of course it's needed for the first new release. So I would get so far on the remasters - and then realise I could do even better.  For example.

So I did it again and ended up with this.

Vanny looks more worn, the shadows are more subtle and no pixel problems.

But why am I spending so much time on the Vanguard? Well, not only is it the first thing we see of course but, unsurprisingly, you go back to it. Depending on your path some of you may well be going back there sooner rather than later and I want it to look good for you really.

I have a decent machine at last too! It's lovely! (although not yet named) I pushed the boat out and by keeping the old monitor, keyboard etc I threw caution to the wind and got the best I could possibly get. Good God it's fast! At least four times as fast as the 1060 and the stuff it can handle is bonkers. By that I mean lighting and reflections etc. I did some tests (which are a tad naughty so I can't put on a public post) and what I could do was just a world of difference to what the 1060 would put up with. So no more bitching from me over speed at least!

On the remaster generally, most of Two and Three is done but I haven't touched Four yet bar some tests and I need to finish off One now I've finally stopped messing around with the Vanguard interior.

The only thing I have my eye on now is the PDA and whether I can make that better so that messages and updates scroll as opposed to being overlays. It's not -that- important but it would like nicer and more professional especially if you don't get the hints etc in the order of the overlays. It's on the nice to do list.

As is....choosing your race. It's something I want to do and indeed had always planned for but I don't know if now is the time purely from a "ohmygodIhavetogetthisgameout!" stress factor that's hanging over me at the mo. The work I've done makes the whole game just leap out and, visually, is miles better than what existed before - but you guys will only have so much patience and you didn't sign up for me to attend a self taught art class, no? So, I have to get it out this month - all of it, and I feel so this might have to go on the back burner and be done when I do the femMC option at the end.

 I'll answer comments and whatnot tomorrow as I'm up against some RL stuff at the mo that I need to get a handle on by close of play tonight. Speak soon!
