I've been racing away to try and get all the renders in for Chapter Four all the way down to the wire but I'm afraid I'm still short. I've got over 600 renders in the bag but I still need more.
What's done -is- good. Indeed it's probs the best looking chapter so far...
...but that doesn't make a complete game of course.
Chapter Four is bigger than Three by some margin. Largely due to the amount of adult scenes included in this one of which I have six this time around. Which from nothing is quite the leap!
But no matter how much effort I put in I'm afraid I've been restricted by the render times. Although 600 in five weeks isn't bad at all, I reckon I need at least another hundred yet before I'm finished and then it needs playtesting.
I wanted to let you know before the end of the month in case you wish to consider your patronage - that's only fair, and I would completely understand. And, although I may suffer hugely from optimism bias and constant re-rendering of scenes to get them right, I do try to be fair.
Given that Five will be even bigger than Four (and now you understand my earlier pre-occupation with file size...) once Four is out of the door I'll have to buy a new PC and upgrade again.
It's hugely frustrating having the game written and coded and then being held up by render speed. Mainly as there isn't anything proactive I can do about it to speed things up. The 1060 has been a blessing of course. The above images just wouldn't have been feasible on the 1050 card if only due to memory limitations if nothing else.
I'll confess I was hoping to hang on a bit longer and then make a bigger leap in the IT rig but far too many renders have just taken too long this time around.
Anyhoo...
