One last thing...

Thank you for your kind words and thoughts in the comments. They made me smile and near cry at the same time (albeit in a good way I hasten to add!)

I apologise if it appears I've ignored what many of you were saying in respect of refunds etc but I only started reading them this morning and so it was less ignoring them and more...well, I hadn't read them.

That was more of a practical decision on my part as opposed to be choosing to be rude I'd add. I'm only really good for a few hours at a time at the mo and I knew that once I'd started going through comments and messages etc I'd probs only get through so many of them and wouldn't have got any refunds out. Given that it can take up to seven days for a refund to process (or so Patreon tells me) I was running out of time to get people their money back by the end of the month.

On the subject of refunds I do appreciate your views, and although my own mindset is that you're paying for content I concur that, yes, you are paying to support the development of the game as a whole. If I'd been busy beavering away in April on, say, some technical aspect or re-designing the GUI or something equally in the engine room then perhaps things would have been different. But I did nothing. Zip. Zilch. (well, apart from watching far too much foreign television of course!). So....there was no development in April. Nor in May of course.

On that basis it felt unethical for me to keep the money. If, perhaps, I'd just been late well that might have been different. Being late, I can always make up either by bonus content like re Chapter Two or purely by releasing at the start of the month making it easier to release another chapter in the same month.

Believe me guys, handing back some $1,000 wasn't easy (especially given the reduction in earnings for the months as  a whole...) but it also felt right at the same time as I hadn't earned it.  It wasn't my patron's fault that I fell ill and so it didn't seem fair to me to keep the cash.

On the plus side, I hope perhaps it goes some way at least to prove that you can trust me -despite my many adventures in ditziness and misfortune.

I can understand your mindset and wonโ€™t harp anymore about you giving my money back but know if there ever is a way I can help let me know I also have to add that you are one of the best devs out there Notty and I wish more success than ever

Ethics are great, but try not to get too obsessed with the money. Keep your chin up, get better ... and deliver a decent product when you can.

Phil, thanks. At least this way I know none of you have lost out y'know? It's always a gamble supporting a dev and sending money off on a promise to a stranger. By doing this I can at least look you all in the eye.

Nottravisgames

Your decison and mind sets shows that you are not only a great dev, but a great person. There are more than enough people out there, who wouldn't refunded any money and have taken advantage of the situation. Just another reason to support you as a great person ๐Ÿ˜Š
