Weekly update: No 1

I know, I know, I've been quite chatty of late but...first week and all that. All a bit exciting, right?

Well going forward I'll be a bit more measured. After all, it's one thing to keep you up to date and another to be a nuisance. :)

That said, I did say, at the start of the week I'd do an update and it would be remiss of me not to actual do my first one. Would hate you chaps to lose faith in me!

So, how can I possibly have anything to update at this point? Well, I bought a few new assets for the next chapter that I've been having a play with this weekend. To be honest I wanted a little break from the coding side of things before I plunge back in. Mainly new room locations. I had some already but I'll be honest they didn't look as good I wanted them to and the new ones come out a lot better, especially the quarters that people will be staying in.

I also wrote the scripts for all three Chris scenes this weekend, which was a lot of fun to do. I have too much content  for them though if I'm also to get the two Sarah scenes, Annie's -big- scene,  and the rest of the surrounding scenes rendered in time ( I told you I had fun writing them :) ). So Super Scientist's will be asked about what the content they want for Chris next week before I start rendering her images.

On the image front, a quick back of the envelope calculation seems to indicate that I can hit around 300 images each update (asset location has a -huge- impact on the number I can produce. The Vanguard, although an old model, used to take an age to do anything with...), and being able to get a reasonable estimate was one of the reasons I did some test renders this weekend.

As to the rest of this week, well as you know it's bugfix and re-release first with what appears to be a file size of around 300Mb as opposed to the previous 800Mb - which is good news going forward. 

I've also had some ideas suggested to me as to how the end scorecard can be improved so that it shows more clearly what scenes you could have achieved with the path you took. I'm still working on this one but if I can do it, it will look a lot better. Then the rest of this week is getting my head around writing the scenes for the other girls. Although they are drafted with plot points, events etc, I find I have to take a little bit of time to get the "sound" of the girls right for the actual narrative you see. So, it's a packet of smokes, get into character and then re-write/write in more detail.

Promise I'll be quiet the rest of the week and just get on with it :)

Don’t mind chatty either. Nice pics. Slippery when wet, well who would have guessed there would still be Bon Jovi fans around in the future.

I don't mind chatty. When it comes to developers I certainly prefer it over prolonged silence. To me it also shows the passion you have for your game. So imho your perceived chattiness is definitely a good thing. ;)
