Art tip of the day:

#11 Pick a focal point.

Have you noticed that some of the artworks circulating the web, while being intensely rendered and detailed, can fail to draw you in, might feel crowded and abstruse? This often happens when the artist looses sight of what is important in any particular drawing. It's so easy to lose sense of direction, when you focus on refining all the details on your canvas. This can force you to spend more time on the picture then it is necessary, and even strip the image of it's coherent message! Try picking one focal point in each piece, and make it more refined and detailed then the rest of the image. Consider everything else to be a foil for the gem you want to entice your viewer with. This will guide the eye towards what you are most proud of, as well as give it space to rest whenever necessary.
