✧ The making of - 'Brace for shock'

This artwork was a challenge to figure out, composition-wise, since we needed to make sure every piece of information, provided by one of our long-time Patrons and a wonderful friend, Siberia-gravity,  reads well and clear, and a dark environment wasn't helping at all =0

We've bashed the location in 3D, using various bits and pieces from other scenes, modeled the window from scratch, added some destruction to the stairs, and rendered out one simple matcap pass. After that we've sketched the character in, and broke the scene into light and dark areas, ensuring that Agita's figure stands out and reads well against the light window. This wasn't done in one try, I must admit. But we settled on a highly contrasted composition, and moved on to shading.

From this point on the process was rather straight-forward. The background took the longest chunk of time to render out, and we've tried various degrees of detail for it, settling on a rather minimalist one in the end, as to not draw attention away from the hero.

After the color was applied, Agita's white far started to really stand out against the warm background, which was exactly what we needed! And everything else fell into place from there. I must say we're rather proud of the result <3

Hope you like this piece too, It's not often that we can master up will to create something this complex. And even if it wasn't the smoothest of rides, we enjoyed it.~

Thanks! Been feeling a bit hesitant in this regard lately, like it needs improving, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

I love seeing how you seamlessly integrate 3D work with your 2D, amazing, seriously.
