STAR WARS Episode IV: A New Hope full uncut reaction!

the reason it was episode IV, George Lucas was a young boy in the 50s and went to Saturday movies. it would start with a cartoon, and short, usually a space drama, like Buck Rogers, it would be episode 8, usually left off on a cliff hanger. George wanted to make movie in homage to those old serials. never intending to make other movies about Star Wars. but us nerds demanded more. so, he made more, and the genius part. he made a deal with the studio that he would get the merchandise profits

The only thing she could do is either watch the "Despecialized edition" that's available online, or buy a laserdisc player and the original releases on laserdisc.

2024-03-30 17:37:17 +0000 UTCLoved, loved, LOVED this reaction and getting to watch it with you, Cristy!!! Like most of the other commenters here, we've all seen these movies more times that we could probably count at this point. So refreshing getting to watch along with someone that's not seen it before to recapture some of that magic we all had seeing it the first time(s) when we were just kids. I never got to see them in the theaters originally until the Special Editions were released in the 90's, but I had seen them on VHS countless times by that point. Hard to believe Star Wars is pushing 50 years old now and the effects they did back in '77 still hold up well today. It really was a cinematic achievement like none other and one of many reasons it drew in so many fans right out of the gate. Can't wait to see The Empire Strikes Back with you and hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend ahead!!! Cheers and May the Force Be With You!

2024-03-28 14:02:51 +0000 UTCOk, just finished your watch-along. So glad that you enjoyed your first dip into the Star Wars universe. I’m hoping that you’re able to avoid any and all spoilers in the comments section. Most members of Cristy’s Crew are very careful about not spoiling stuff for you, but it only takes 1 or 2 people to spoil something. Heck, maybe just have Jorge screen the comments for you until at least after the third movie. You’ve got lots of fun stuff coming up. Can’t wait to experience it with you!

2024-03-28 03:21:27 +0000 UTCHello there! Happy to see you get into this franchise! It's a wonderful universe with so many species and planets to explore. The band in the Mos Eisley Cantina is called Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes. May the Force be with you!

2024-03-28 02:25:35 +0000 UTCSeeing a person watch this movie for the first time, you realize that you take for granted knowing all the names of these otherworldly things because we grew up with the movies and toys. For instance- I’m up the part in your reaction where Ben Kenobi shows up, and you’ve been wondering about what certain things are. The desert planet that Luke lives on at the beginning is called Tattooine. The little alien guys that take Threepio and Artoo at the beginning are called “Jawas”. That huge vehicle that they travel in is called a Sandcrawler. And the hover car thing that Luke owns is called a Landspeeder. There will no doubt be a bunch more things that you won’t know the names of, and probably won’t even be revealed in the movies. But the more you immerse yourself in the fandom, you’ll learn all this stuff like the back of your hand. ;-)

2024-03-28 01:51:08 +0000 UTC“How did they do this in the seventies?” Some of the scenes that you see, including the one that you’re watching when you say this, were added in the late ‘90s for the “special edition” releases. So it’s more like you’re watching a ‘70s movie with ‘90s special effects sprinkled in here and there. :-)

2024-03-28 01:31:38 +0000 UTCWhen the movie was released in 1977, it was simply “Star Wars”. It was just before the next movie was released in 1980, that it was retroactively made the “fourth” movie. Starting then in 1980, the words “Episode IV” and “A New Hope” were added to the story “crawl” that opens the movie.

2024-03-27 20:19:26 +0000 UTCYou know what's funny, I don't need a copy to follow along. B/c the movie, word for word, scene for scene is in my head! In the words of Tom Brady, "LETSSSSSS GOOOOOO!" Trust me, that deep breath in the beginning is going to go a long way!
