Corruption of the Glades - Wooden Hut Craft (WIP)

Hello everyone!

I decided to make a Wooden Hut in my free time and share a tutorial if the results are good, so far I can't see them but I still think it will work out. I will update this post so that I can keep track of what I am doing and make my tutorial a bit more understandable. I won't record a video or something like that because there's also video editing to learn, and at the moment it's too much for me.

Why craft? I am a sculptor and this would be much easier to do digitally and then print. 3d printing on a resin printer would be really expensive, FDM should be the way to go. I have sold my FDM printer to make room for my Resin printer (I don't regret this choice not even one bit) but, unfortunately, I can't print this kind of stuff, therefore I will make them (at least I will try).

Materials used(so far):

• Cardboard
• Empty resin bottle (washed with alcohol and cleaned)
• Scissors
• Cutting Knife

What I will need (Materials that I think I will use in the future):

• Hot Glue
• 2 Part Epoxy putty
• PVC film
• Pointy tool (Tooth stick, Barbecue stick, or a needle)
• 3d Printed props (I will make a tent to print and glue)
• Brush and Ink

---TUTORIAL---

Step 1 - Locate a plastic bottle that suits your craft, for this project I decided to pick a short but larger bottle. I don't know if it would work but I think that the famous potato chip bottle (that one that is a cylinder) should work, with some adjustments you could even make a bigger tree. The only thing that you need is a kind of flexible bottle (a material that you can bend) in case you wish to make a bigger diameter.

Step 2 - Cut the bottle open by removing the bottom and the top. You don't need to be precise with the cutting line and where the cuts are being made. If you are making another of this, this kind of manual rough method should be able to create variation.

Step 3 - Mark a circle on the cardboard that corresponds to the inner diameter of your bottle. If you wish to make a bigger diameter than your bottle, you can cut a bigger circle, we will adjust that later.

Step 4 - Cut the circles made in Step 3. You don't need to be precise in making these cuts, the closer you get to the circle the better.

Step 5 - Mark and cut the bottle at 1/5 of the height (considering the bottle is already in the correct position). The reason for this cut is to make the Bottle look like a log that has a part below the earth. Do the same process for the circles that have been cut in Step 4. If you are working with a bigger diameter cut the Circles first and make a single cut on the bottle (in the long distance), force open it, and put one circle at each edge, mark and cut the excess.

Step 6 - Mark and cut a door on the bottle. In my case, I took a 6cm wide. No need to be precise with the topmost cut.

Step 7 - Glue the Cardboard circles to the bottle using hot glue. Apply pressure so that the cardboard stick to the bottle. Be careful not to burn your fingers. Don't worry too much about small gaps, you can use hot glue to fill those.

Step 8 - With the help of PVC or plastic, open the putty. You can use any tools you wish, in this case, I only used my hands. The thinner you can get, the more material you will save.

Step 9 - Apply the putty on the sides, and cut the excess. Remove any finger marks (the putty I used with a bit of water it's possible to erase them).

Step 10 - With the help of a pointy tool, start carving a swirl shape line.

Step 11 - With the same tool make random cuts on the Swirl, from the center to the trunk, sometimes from trunk to center. Only a few lines will cut from center to trunk, the others will finish early. It's important that these lines are straight and don't have the same length.

Time spent so far: 2 Hour build, 30 min tutorial

So far this is my current progress. The miniatures are the Werebears that I am still painting (1 hour here or there, eventually I will finish them)

Important Notes: I discovered that I like 3d a lot more lol. I messed up but unfortunately, I can't Ctrl+Z, there is no shortcut in real life.
