Hello everyone!
Update April 15th
This is the last WIP on War.
I removed the front part of the Helmet, It was cool but, having a model without it looks a lot more like an Orc than a pumped-up Human. All that is left if Finish the Ax and a piece of the helmet, then I will move to Posing.
I have added runes scattered over his armor to give a DK feel to him (They will probably look cool if highlighted with a glow).
Hopefully, I can send him to the printer tonight. The next miniature will be War's Horse.
Update April 14th
I have added details to many armor pieces, probably more than I should but, It gave him the image of worn-out armor.
Today I am working on the shoulders and Helmet, after I am done with those I will start with the Ax.
My initial idea was to put a ringmail on his back but, seeing how much info he has I think I will change to a ragged cloth.
Update April 13th
I have settled with the chest armor.
Now I am working on the Helmet changing a few shapes. I decided to change the Hair on the helmet for fire, it could be nice to give a little motion.
I will finish the Helmet and then I will start working on the gloves.
After I am done with the shapes I will start refining them and add details, I won't refine too much because I want to give him a metal worn-out look to it, after fighting so many battles.
Some Ideas to add to this miniature (I will see if it's possible), War means battles, and battles mean weapons, so I thought that adding lots of weapons to glue on his back could increase the personality of the model. Another idea that came to my mind was Ares, the God of War (When I speak God of War, well...this last sentence has its weights), I will try to add the double chain weapon but, I will make those into Axes, it could be cool to add that.
I think I will make 2 poses for Him, A static (Poser, no tactical rock) and a Striking pose (Released together with the Horse).
Update April 12th
I have refined the shape of the boots a bit more and added some placeholder bolts to give the vibe that I am going for. I was not happy with how the chest armor was looking so I started over and I am trying to find the shapes. For now, I have found that the back part looks ok.
I will start splitting the chest armor and build it from the skin to see If I can find some interesting shapes.
---End of Update---
Today I have started blocking out the shapes of War.
In the first picture, I have placed my Blockout shapes alongside the Human and the Orc from the Storms set. The reason I did this was to show that War is bigger than the average Orc. The reason for that is because he is War and war is supposed to be brutal also because he is blood, a Tank. To me, this means he should be bulkier looking like he can take any pain.
In the second picture, there are more views of him and also a possible variation (hood).
I started him by the helmet, I wanted a Murmillo helmet but with horns, it did not look cool, I kept the horns and went changing the shapes. I also added the Roman hair on top of the helmet.
For the armor, I want to add many layers of metal (Layered Plate armor).
For the hips, I wanted something long that could protect his leg while riding the Horse, so I added that long plate on the sides.
The Axe, It will be a 2Handed Axe, in the Handle I will keep some chains hanging by the end.
I will try to make him modular but the cut won't be on the hands because I wish to make some longer gloves for him, so His cut will probably be in the junction Arm and Gloves.
I will keep this post updated as I move along in the sculpting process, I am not happy with the shapes, but I will get there. If you have any suggestions or requests please leave them in the comments below.
Best regards,
Ivo
