MMF VS Minihoarder
Added 2021-12-16 19:05:46 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
I have done a bit of exploration on MMF and I am ready to share what I figure out from the platform. We have to decide which platform to use and what can happen, each has its advantages and disadvantages.
MMF review
Creating user groups is a simple task and I can attach files to it really simple and easy after I got the hang of things.
As you have experienced Subgroups can be a problem because Products and Users must be in the same subgroup. If you are not then you will not receive a miniature.
Deleting a miniature or a User from the list can be troublesome because the user will lose access to every miniature shared with him.
The way to get around this: Every month I will create a subgroup for the miniatures released during the month (or the pack), I will add users to the list and next month I create another subgroup and add users to it.
Patron Commission/Loyalty Reward models will be harder to manage and susceptible to errors but doable. I will create a separate group for it and manage each file separately and manually, adding users to each model as they unlock the miniatures (as time goes on this will be too time-consuming because the number of models will increase, 1 per month)
Unfortunately, on MMF I will have to be like everyone else, people will have access only to the miniatures released on the month, next month I create another list and grant access. An evergrowing welcome pack will be impossible because users must remain in the list and I can't add new miniatures to the list, or else a user (not subscribed) will have access to a miniature that he should not have. I can however create Welcome Pack 1, 2, 3 4... and so on, unfortunately, this would also increase my time adding new users to each pack.
The Shared with me will be organized in this structure
Imagine Minis> Patreon >202X MonthX Releases
>202X MonthY Releases
> Loyalty Reward > Each miniature listed
> Welcome Pack > X-Group of 6 miniatures
Y-Group of 6 miniatures
Minihoarder review
There are no user groups, no product groups, so I have to manually pick the list and add them for each product. With one click I pull the list of Patron but have to do it every time I give products.
Creating a Welcome pack will be hard because as time moves on I will have to "remember" the list of products to give.
Once I give the product it's yours, I can't take it back. If you don't have an account the website will wait for you to create your account to give you the miniatures, even if you unsubscribe.
I can't keep doing both platforms, at least not without help, or else I could put at risk miniature sculpt time. Changing from Minihoarder to MMF will imply a split of model releases, meaning you would need to download new releases from MMF and older from Minihoarder.
I will release miniatures on both Platforms and offer the lowest prices on Minihoarder (Lower commission and no month subscription fee), but I have to pick one to make Patron delivery.
In my opinion, no Platform is perfect, having advantages and disadvantages. I will do what you guys decide and think it's better, this poll will be open until 30th of December where I will announce changes for next year on the Monthly report.
Sorry for the long post but, I had to add as many details as possible. If you have any comments or doubt's please, leave them in the comments or send me a DM.
Best regards,
Ivo

Definitely fair, at the end of the day I gotta say you gotta do what's better for you.

2021-12-17 17:38:17 +0000 UTCI think in the long run being more prominent on MMF makes the most sense, from a visibility point of view and potentially for Tribes in the future when that overtakes Patreon (if that happens.) For me personally MMF is better, just because I have loads of other creators and such there - keeps everything in the same place etc.

2021-12-16 22:10:01 +0000 UTCEither will work for me with a few adjustments. MMF store will remain open regardless, I take their monthly fee as a advertisement cost. Minihoarder will also remain open with lower price miniatures for those that wish to pay less
2021-12-16 20:45:19 +0000 UTCI like MMF but I haven't enjoyed using Minihoarder

2021-12-16 20:34:30 +0000 UTCI'm fine with either. Do whatever makes your work-flow easier and take your exposure into consideration. I reckon MMF is a bit more popular, but I can't say for sure. I agree with Maria.

2021-12-16 20:15:09 +0000 UTCThanks for the honest opinion Maria.
2021-12-16 19:37:18 +0000 UTCI will go with whatever ends up being the best for you in the end as I want you have the best opportunity to do what you enjoy and not get stuck doing a lot of account maintenance. I have accounts on both, but I don't prefer one over the other.
2021-12-16 19:28:50 +0000 UTCYes I know about navigation, and I also feel the same, but on my side and yours there are advantages and disadvantages. and I had to put that on the table.
2021-12-16 19:16:32 +0000 UTCI'm partial to MMF since I find its navigation simple from a user's standpoint. The render images for each file also help me sort and find what I am looking for easily.
