Hello everyone!
-- Update November 26th --
Added 3 WIP pictures.
1- Size comparison with Saber panther
2 - While picking the moon from the bag to reuse, I got this Idea, you can add the released bag + the sleep roll to the back of the elf to add a few bits of variation, I don't know if it will work with the printed version.
3 - Weapons. While sculpting the shield I decided to add a smaller one, at first it was supposed to be just a smaller version but ended being a different style of the shield. There will be a Larger without textures so you can paint the way you wish. I wanted to make the moon glaive as a Weapon with a hand but due to the armor on the arm being long it will be hard to position, so I did it like the shield (using the same hand, you glue the hand then the shield or M Glaive, for a better fit and resistant bond I think sanding could help). I still have to make the Banner (2 poses, movement, and without).
Now I will finish the Weapons then pose the model and do the final sculpt. I decided to not add the modular heads (the heads will be included in the model, I will include the other hair as variants, and you can remove the Helmet, Skirt, Cape, Shoulder pads, and Helmet in software before printing). I will focus first on the Riding pose.
This will probably be the last update before the final release. I will release the following miniature groups: Saber Panther Wild, Mounted Sentinel (Sentinel with 3 body options + Saddle Saber Panter). I probably won't have time this month to finish the other Saber Panther nor the others Sentinel, so they will be available in January once the Special Patron commission is over.
-- Update November 25th --
Today I started working on the Hair (almost finishing the middle one), Changed the old Circlet into a Helmet style (still on blockout, those colors are only to guide me before adding details).
I will make those heads modular, with and without Helmet. I could do them as part of the model but I realized I would create many models (meaning more files to manage and more disk space required to store). I tried to make GW modular head style (Neck attached to the head) but, it could be hard to hide the seamline since she has too much skin showing, this way I think the solidified glue can fill the gap.
Also having modular heads is good for 3 things: Material saving (the support won't need to reach the top, I know it's little but if you work with printing at the end of a month might be much), Speed (if you fill a batch of heads since they are not tall you could print them faster, or even the model+head takes less time since it's headless), Ear supporting (since ears are long and printing them without the proper orientation could result in a damaged ear).
-- Update November 23th --
Started to detail a few shapes so I could get a better view of the model.
I have been thinking about her skirt, I make a skirt for the unmounted version but for the mounted version I don't think it will be visible or make a huge difference. Adding it could compromise model compatibility with other mounts in the future.
Since she is a "cavalry" unit I decided to add more armor pieces, a metal plate in her back and front of her leather bikini.
I am super excited and want to finish her and place her on the mount! But of course, I can't rush things out.
-- End of the update --
Due to my conclusion about releasing the Saber Panther, I started sketching the main shapes of the Sentinel. Don't worry about the hair, it's there only to make volume, none of this is final.
About the concept: Most of the Night Elves are barefoot but for her, I decided to put on some boots. For leg armor, since she is mainly a mounted combatant, she needed armor only turned outside the first sculpt I removed because I added that leather side skirt.
I am still thinking if I should put some cloth in her front or back, probably I will change to something like the Huntress skirt.
Helm x Circlet: I probably will add a Helmet version or modular heads if the hair does not touch anything.
For now, my plans for the sentinel are 3 poses (2 ridings and one in the ground), modular weapons compatible with each other (Still thinking if I make the cut on the hands or the arm above the gloves).
Hand options will be: Moon Glaive, Shield, Spear, Banner, and bow (Requested)
Optional: Quiver (To glue on the back or anywhere)
Removable parts: Top chest armor (Leaving the leather bustier), Skirt, Shoulder pads, and cape.
That's it for now, if you have any suggestions or requests, please leave them in the comments.
Best regards,
Ivo
