Modular Draenei - Extra torso options (WIP)

Hello everyone!

Today I will be printing some extra torso options for the modular Draenei, I won't print all because I have screw up... I modeled the armor without taking the previously sculpted legs into account, so, the Plate torso got bigger than the legs... Still trying to figure out what to do, I will probably reduce the belly and back plate armor so that the model fits nicely.

Seeing other modular units by other Patreons I realized that most of them are the same model with some props over. I began making that bottom left armor first and then thought would be nice to have only the leather armor, so I removed the plating and while adding more details I felt it was getting kind of Roman armor and so I went with the flow and added markings on the muscles to be more Legionnaire.

After finishing those chest my opinion over the modular have changed a bit. I can assemble an army of prints really fast, I can mix and add a bunch o variations to the table, I can create awesome poses and that's awesome but, by the end of the day, I get a feeling that sculpting a whole model and publishing is a lot more interesting and appealing.

Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Best regards,

Ivo

I like the modular approach for three reasons: 1. (The obvious one) it enables a multitude of poses and combinations. 2. Painting pre assembly is often better for detail. 3. Designing models in such a way, that they look good and are easy to print at the same time (without having to place supports in the most visible places) is extremely difficult. Piece by piece makes that rather more doable.

Thanks, Kitty and Kristian, I really do appreciate the feedback you guys are giving me, it means so much. I feel the same way. Although I think is cool kitbashing with bit and parts gluing all together to assemble a cool unit, I probably will print those but will never glue. The way I'm making it is cool to add magnets and assemble the parts for hot-swap, but really it's not my thing while working on the heads I figured that it's really not something I enjoy seeing, not because I don't like the models it's just that it lacks the sense of accomplishment.

To be 100% transparent, I think this kind of thing is very cool, but I will likely not use it. I prefer whole models, and I know its not your style to do so, but I really dont mind one model reposed a few times with modular hands. I know the modular torso thing can be cool to create exactly what hero the player wants to print, but its just not as exciting for me.
