Mike rested against his punching bag, panting between sets. He was naked aside from his grown coat of fur- it was easiest to train that way. None of his shirts fit now anyway since he'd grown so much, but aside from that anything he wore was uncomfortable covering the pelt on his body. He felt the sweat dripping from his face and skin, soaking into the carpet. The smell was toxic, the fumes setting into his head and dampening his thoughts.

Why did his sweat make it so hard for him to think? It felt like fog in the air, the humidity thickest around him. What was even worse was it stuck to his body, caught in the curls of hair that surrounded it. He couldn't remember ever being this brutish and hairy, at least, until his coach began giving him the special shots. After that it became hard to remember anything.

He remembered the words Coach always told him playing on repeat through his head. Train like an animal. Fight like an animal. Obey like an animal. He was spending every day in the gym with the punching bag or lifting weights, unable to focus on anything else. It was as if he didn't have the capacity to, a single track mind that could only concentrate on one thing at a time. When he was training or in the ring, it would be numb to everything else.

Mike heard the timer go off on his app and his eyes were brought back to the target in front of him, all other thoughts shutting off. After practice he'd check-in with Coach, the overseer of Mike's progress.

Coach couldn't be happier with how quickly their new medicine had turned their pupil into a brute, something doping tests wouldn't pick up. They were meant to help their athletes succeed in anyway possible, and seeing their trainee turned into a beast of a man couldn't have been more fulfilling. Coach didn't care how his star's mental state had devolved. If this was the cost of success, then so be it. It was worth the trophys and titles as far as they cared.
