Simple Brothers

John was always the smarter one of the two, receiving all the achievements and talent that Jamie didn't seem to have. John had accomplished a ton; getting a great job, a nice house, and quickly ending up with a woman. Jamie barely scraped by, ending up in construction and labor, destined from the beginning to be second to his brother.
Then things took a turn for the worse for John. He lost his job and his wife filed for divorce. John continued to lose a grip on his life when he lost his house. He had no other option than to ask to move in with Jamie, both barely fitting into the place Jamie could barely afford. John was at his lowest point, no clue how to restart his life with Jamie as his only guide. All Jamie knew was the life he'd been living, not knowing how to give any advice other than to follow.
John could only imitate Jamie to the best of his ability, listening and doing everything he was told. He followed Jamie's habits, beginning to wear the same clothes, learning how to shave his head. With nothing else to do he joined Jamie at the construction site, Jamie taking John under his wing. John would follow his brother dutifully, doing what he was ordered. He didn't need to think, only act.
Each night after became the same, drinking and smoking with the crew after work. They looked at John strangely who would only sit there quietly next to his brother. It didn't take long for John to not be thought of as very bright, but that didn't matter to him. He quickly learned it was easier, better not to think, soon becoming the staple fool of the group. He eventually adopted the accent and slang, and was just another one of the boys.
The two brothers soon became inseparable, the spitting images of each other, and no one thought it could be any different.
