It's always overly hot during the summer, men wanting to do anything to beat the heat. It's no question why many end up buying their own personal inflatable pool to have in their front yard, filling it with water to laze about in it. Anything to make the heat-filled days end fast.
They begin to spend nearly every day in the pool, just laying back in the cool water. They find remaining in this position and not moving at all keeps their bodies cool. They don't consider the consequences of spending all day in a comatose state, not spending any of their energy stuck in respite.
It only takes a few weeks for the changes to start. They don't notice, having spent the winter caring about their summer bodies, now paying no attention to the increasing space they take up in their mirrors. They continue eating the burgers and barbeques at the plentiful cookouts, filling their stomachs until they're bulging with extra calories, calories they don't bother to spend that only turn them rounder and softer.
The only thing they notice is how much lighter they feel in the water as their buoyancy increases, almost as if they were turning into another inflatable. They ignore their slowly tightening swimsuits, something they've begun to experience with the rest of their clothes as well. They can worry about it when they need to start dressing in full suits again during the cooler seasons, when they realize they won't be able to wrap the fabric around their enormous bellies. For now they get to enjoy the blissful sensation of the pool water on their ever expanding bodies, spreading out in their space.
