Rich was on vacation when he discovered his love for Hawaiian shirts. They were light and formal, perfect for the humid weather. He quickly changed out his entire wardrobe, fitting himself with the vibrant cloth to outfit the rest of his life.
He adopted a relaxed attitude, inspired by the carefree symbolism of the shirts, letting go of his stress and worries. He couldn't help but start indulging in delicacies he used to pass on, starting to order appetizers and deserts, growing fond of rich and exquisite cuisine. It had started to become a daily habit to fill his belly.
He didn't take notice when the shirts had started growing tighter, the buttons straining against his expanding stomach. He found it comforting, the fabric hugging his body like a soft blanket. Soon he found he could no longer button the middle across his chest, followed shortly after by his stomach.
He started going around leaving the shirt open, letting the fabric drape around his wider frame. Once then it was too late to stop his stomach from continuing to fall out of the shirt, growing unrestrained from all the food he consumed, finding it easier to fill his stomach. He couldn't see how much fatter it had gone, only feeling satisfaction enjoying the comfortable lifestyle he had grown used to.
