Growing Suburbs

He was looking for a place where he could work from home, and this seemed perfect. It was quiet, all the neighbors older as if they wanted to live there for the rest of their lives. He was a bit surprised at this, but he soon got used to it.
He started to notice that he was spending more and more time inside, never going out. He had a lot of work to do, and he was content with sitting in the comfort of his home. He wasn't sure how much time had passed, but soon his body started changing. White hair had started to creep from his face and cover his body, quickly growing a massive grey beard to match other residents.
His body began to soften, muscles replaced with fat as he began to gain weight. He wasn't sure how this had happened, but he couldn't help feel the lethargic aspect of the neighborhood seeping into him, placating him. It wasn't long before he only wanted to stay inside all the time, his body turned into a plush pillow. He was a part of the neighborhood now, seduced by the quiet, belonging to the sedative charm of the suburbs.
