2025-04-17 05:36:11 +0000 UTCi do feel like it was a mix of vocal talent + personality that made them so popular. they were basically known as beagle-dols and their playful personalities were reflected so well in their songs and stages. Um Oh Ah Yeh was their first mainstream song, if i'm not mistaken. the ad libs were soooo fun and their live vocals were glorious. their image was solidified with You're the Best--the ad libs were even more witty and entertaining, and they were belting on-stage so naturally and effortlessly. i'm feeling nostalgic now omg. i don't think i've found a group yet that can fill in the spot that Mamamoo did. the trend now are heavily curated stages, with the choreo all planned out down to individual gestures. it's cool, but every music show stage tend to look the same as a result, especially if the vocals are pre-recorded too. i think that's why i'll always gravitate to groups who prefer to sing live most of the time and can play around freely on stage
